rdatelle Posted September 27, 2017 Report Posted September 27, 2017 Hi everyone, a friend of mine wanted to know if I could do a plaque of some sort. It's of the U of M wolverines. She gave me this pic of it she doesn't care if it's not painted so I'm not going to paint it, I'm going to do it out of Oak and keep it natural. I have no idea On how to do this so I can use some help. She said I could do anything I want so it doesn't have to be just like this one. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks, Ralph. Quote
fredfret Posted September 27, 2017 Report Posted September 27, 2017 Map of Michigan sized for project M contrasting wood. Or map with m cut in Quote
JOE_M Posted September 27, 2017 Report Posted September 27, 2017 If you decide to do it like the pic, just cut the michigan background as one piece for the back layer with the connection between the mitten and the UP being hidden behind the M, cut the M separately and place it on top: Lucky2, Birchbark and ChelCass 3 Quote
rdatelle Posted September 27, 2017 Author Report Posted September 27, 2017 Both are good ideas. Joe, I like the two different pieces. Not sure how this would look unless I paint it which I don't like to do but I think this project might need to be painted. Maybe even walnut for the state and Oak for the M and no paint. I'll have to think about this one. Maybe I'll get more ideas to. Thanks guys. Quote

Ralph, Here's one I did. You could do the blue in oak and the yellow dark. Quote
rdatelle Posted September 28, 2017 Author Report Posted September 28, 2017 Dave, that looks great. I'll print it out and save it. I already did the one that Joe made for me. I happen to have some blue and yellow stain, so I decided to stain it for her to. It matches the pic she gave me but I'll show her this one to. Thanks again guys, great work as usual.
