Okay, today, my wife and I have been married for 50 years!  In this day and age I feel that is noteworthy.  Do to unforeseen emergency expenses last month, we could not afford a big celebration.  Our children do not live close so they, although they wanted to and feel very guilty for not being able to, where not able to do anything big for us.  So 50 years of putting up with me and all my wife gets is a nice card and pretty bouquet of flowers from me and a promise of a nice dinner, at an nice restaurant, some evening next week after the SS check comes in!   Not what I hoped for or planned, but like I said last month was expensive with unexpected costs.

So, please make me a least feel better about it, please clap your hands, send me praise.... whatever.  50 long hard years.... My wife has endured.   She has given me two wonderful kids, been a great mother, and as I said put up with me.  I know it was not always easy for her....  I love her for it.

Congratulations "Old" Friend.  Except for your added expenses, my wife of 55 years would echo what you shared.  We are opposite in many ways.  I am outgoing and will start a conversation with any & all strangers.  Audrey is shy.  Am constantly in awe as to far back she can roll her eyes at my shenanigans.

We have a former neighbor whose parents just celebrated 60 years.  Someone asked them, "In all those years, was there ever a time when you considered divorce"?  The husband replied, "Sure, but never on the same day".

Paul, congratulations to you and your Wonderful wife, fifty years is a long time to be together. I was watching the news last night, there was a couple on there that was married for eighty-two years. They are both a hundred years old, and still healthy and able to get around fine on their own.

"Long and short",  how so true. I cannot believe it has been 50 years,  seems like yesterday, I had to sell my beloved Sunbeam sports car, because we had a new little boy and there just was not room for three.  Today, I would sell the boy and keep the sports car... Come on, I'm just kidding.  That little boy is pushing 50!!!!!

:bday::bday:  CONGRATULATIONS  :bday::bday:  We all wish we could be there with you to celebrate such a fantastic milestone, half a century together.  We all know that you have had your ups and downs just like the rest of us and you have seen a lot of things but the fact that you are still together makes everything worthwhile.  I am sure that your lovely wife is looking forward to that dinner in that restaurant with just you.

Congratulation my good friend. I was not on my computer all day today  or I would have at least called you and wished you a Happy Anniversary.. Hey that reminds me, Sharon and I will be celebrating our 56th next month.. Thanks for the update on yours. We will be in Heppner for two weeks. Perhaps you and Patty and Sharon and I could go out to dinner together during that time.

Well Paul, Hearty congratulations to you and your dear wife on celebrating your Silver wedding, 50 years. A great achievement for both of you. Some of the youngsters in this day and age don't last 50 months, but us oldies seem to stick to the promises we made all those years ago, come hell or high water. Speaking of anniversaries Paul we reached 48 years on the 20th of September. Lo and behold neither of us REMEMBERED :lol: until our daughter reminded us. Mind you we have known each other for 55 years.  So here's a big round of Scottish applause to you and your dear wife. May you have many more happy years together. Take care of each other.

Rob Roy, and Wife.

Paul hope you can hear the applause, We are 6 years behind you.   Got me thinking my mother passed away 10 years ago after 65 years. I did wish my dad this year happy 75th anniversary since he is still living in upper NY at 95 doing well. Like your kids I do not live close but try to get to see him when I can. Have a great dinner when you can. I bet she would be happy with a breakfast in bed.

Congratulations and a long and lengthy applause to you and your lovely Bride Paul. It is indeed worthy of applause, a high five, and many cheers. A definite milestone. I am sorry you had emergency expenses last month but with both of your abilities to roll with the punches like that is a testament to why you have been together so long. I pray you enjoy many more happy celebrations together.
