This is my 3rd attempt at Intarsia, the first 2 I didn't do much in the way of shaping the pieces, gave it a go here.

There are still some gaps, although I'm getting a hang on cutting better, watching feed rate and using the saw to tighten up the pieces.

Funny part is, after I cut all the pieces out I really wasn't happy with the fit, it really looked horrible, fact is I dang near tossed it in the wood stove....

But I figured I use it as a learning piece and try some new techniques as far as closing the gaps and shaping. Read books by Judy Gale Roberts and Kathy Wise, lots of good info there.

And I gotta say I'm happy and suprised at the end results, way better than I thought it could be.

Very nice work.  Shaping a piece with the sanding can also help "disguise" those that we initially think don't align very well.  The more you do intarsia the better you will get.  Also, I have found that cutting the animal puzzles that so many of us have gotten hooked on has been good practice for cutting on the line which is so important in Intarsia work.  Thanks for sharing.
