alex fox bowls

finally got around to getting these done yesterday. first time doing these type of bowls and they arent too bad to do. 2 from 1/4" BB ply and 1 from 1/4" solid red oak. the pics may show how 1/4" BB ply isnt always 1/4"

and NOW i see i had a little burning!LOLOLOL

I have that pattern printed and ready to apply. 

How stable are the bowls? I’m wondering if a couple of the lower rings would be better left as part of the base.

How did you attach them together? Glue? Epoxy?

they seem to be pretty stable to me.

i use medium CA glue. a dab on every other contact point around the perimeter

It is really fun and surprising when one cuts their first bowl, as it turns our to be a rather easy one to do and the results are so satisfying too. They look great. I bet you will be trying a lot of different bowl patterns now. I love cutting them

When I make bowls like this I often start from the outside and make a dry stack as I go. I drill the holes as I cut so that I can see how the bowl is stacking up and how stable it feels.

Great projects! I like to make patterns and cut bowls. I have one more new pattern, but waiting for 6mm plywood

the top ring is 8" and they stand about 3 1/2" high. im thinkin on the next one to enlarge the pattern a bit.
