Greg Slagle Posted March 29, 2019 Report Posted March 29, 2019 I had some surplus Poplar hanging out in the garage so I decided to experiment with spray paint to see what comes of it when applied to an intarsia project... Not sure I like the result... A little too cartoon-like for my tastes... The pattern is by Kathy Wise... I used Poplar and Wenge... I painted the Poplar gray and white... spirithorse Posted March 29, 2019 Report Posted March 29, 2019 I think you are being too critical of yourself, Greg, and I think the shark looks great! Good work on the intarsia portion. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse Greg Slagle 1 Quote

I wasn't meaning to be critical of myself... I just don't much like the cartoonish look the paint gave the shark... I guess it is just a preference kind of thing but I'll hang it on my wall just the same... The size and shape fits perfectly in an open spot I have... lol amazingkevin 1 Quote

Rockytime Posted March 30, 2019 Report Posted March 30, 2019 Great looking shark! The coloring makes it. Greg Slagle 1 Quote
wombatie Posted March 31, 2019 Report Posted March 31, 2019 No I don't think it looks cartoonish, if it had a big smile that would be different. I think it looks spot on, like Les said, the coloring makes it. Marg Greg Slagle 1 Quote

I tried a scrap piece of Aspen with some Oil based Artist paint mixed into Natural wood stain... Wife thinks it came out ok so I'll give it a shot... Dave Monk 1 Quote
