So the wife and I were looking for a recliner for her, but of course we had to walk through the whole store.  She sees a drop leaf table and before you know it, she is telling me how we can rearrange things and where to put it.  {sigh}  Thinking fast I suggest why move things around when, since there is just the two us, we could sell the dining room table, and when needed something like this could be used.  She buy the idea, without realizign I said something like this - heh heh

Much to the chagrin of the sales man, I collapse the table, lay it on its side, turn it over and open it basically upside down.  Only $699 on sale now for ...... pressboard!  And only three small strap hinges for each table leaf!

We leave, no recliner or table going with us.  Told her I can make one.  So we sell the dining room table/chairs and ......

the only thing I bought was the turned legs and two piano hinges, the rest of this is

ready for it

Home depot 1x4 and 1x6, the cheapest they have.

ROFLMAO - made money on the sale even after the purchases

How do you lock it open? I have seen a piece of lumber on each side on a hinge fold open underneath and it braces the table. Also seen some metal specific locks. RJF

I built it with a swing out leg.  In the first pic look at the floor on the right side, you can just make out 3 legs at that end.

Under the drop leaf it fits in  a pocket to stop if from just swinging all the way
