Designing whirligigs

Has anyone here bought book(s) on designing and making whirligigs? I have some ideas and need help figuring out the workings of whirligigs.

So, good books? books to avoid? recommendations?

Dover books has several good books on making whirligigs.  I have several of them and they are quite well written.

Thank you for the response. Which of the Dover books would you consider to be the best for design/making it work?

Making Animated Whirligigs - By: Anders S. Lunde

I have this one and it has a lot of good information in it.  He has written a lot of other good books also.

I have a book by Anders S. Lunde which  covers a lot of info and has very good directions.  I made one about 12 years ago that still works and is in our yard right now. Maybe tomorrow I can get a pic and post it.

Here's the pic I promised a couple days ago. (Sorry this took so long getting posted. We had water in the lower level with the spring melt (( I know I'm not the only person whose suffered some water damage this sprint/summer)) so I was replacing the carpet this weekend.) One of the special things about whiriligigs is that anyone can design them. I'm trying to figure out when I made this.  I designed it to look like me cutting wood. Note the guy has a dark beard and my beard is all white.

The book recommended has arrived, looks like the resource I needed. Now on to design and then build.

I look forward to seeing your creations.  Whirligigs are fun to build and watch.  There are a couple big whirligig festivals around the country.  I know one in Wilson, North Carolina and one in Seattle, WA.

You can update this by putting a flat screen tv outside and run an animated whirligig. It can change seasonally.  RJF
