JimErn Posted June 20, 2019 Report Posted June 20, 2019 Kind of amazing how the body/brain adapt. You just don't realize, or I didn't anyway, how bad your eyesight gets and how you adapt to that, until - magic happens. Had my second eye done yesterday for cataract surgery, things really look good now. But best of all I reduced the lens diopter on the magnifying eyeglasses and the line is now crisp and clear. Yippee, maybe now I can, as the kids say, "get gooder" at this hobby. I wear these, just easy to use IMO.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071GWM9QN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 GrampaJim, meflick, Phantom Scroller and 3 others 5 1 Quote

teachnlearn Posted June 20, 2019 Report Posted June 20, 2019 Thats great. I've spent several months with an blind eye from a virus. After plenty of med pills, drops and cream its clearing up. My wife is after me every other hour with either drops or an ointment. Every time I get the ointment my sight is blurred for an hour. I never though of having sight and seeing, now I'm reminded every few hours. RJF Quote
Rockytime Posted June 21, 2019 Report Posted June 21, 2019 I've had cataract surgery in both eyes quite a long time ago and drive without glasses. My LED is 1.25X but sometimes I use the same magnifiers you use. There is window behind me and sometimes there is an irritating reflection on the lens. Then I use the magnifier you use. They are wonderful. I have four pairs. One in my scroll shop, one on my desk and two in the clock shop. They are the best and cheapest I have ever used! Quote
Scrappile Posted June 21, 2019 Report Posted June 21, 2019 It is a pretty marvelous surgery. I had forgotten what white really was. Quote
Ptofimpact Posted June 21, 2019 Report Posted June 21, 2019 I need to get it done, how is the healing process, long time, uncomfortable? Quote

I expect each person is slightly different. No real pain at all, the first day and part of the next it feels like a rock is in there. Leave it alone and it goes away You can see as soon as you sit up, but the vision can be cloudy, fuzzy, etc but gets better by the 4th day at the latest they say, mine was clear on day 3 for the worst eye and day 2 for this one. Hardest thing for me is the eye drops. 3 different ones, one drop of each at least 5 minutes apart 3x a day for 3 weeks after (but other surgeons may have a different routine) wombatie 1 Quote

I had my eyes done 2 weeks apart and it was drops after drops after drops. The surgery was the easy part. Marg Quote
Ptofimpact Posted June 22, 2019 Report Posted June 22, 2019 Thanks to all I have been putting it off for over a year Quote
Scrappile Posted June 22, 2019 Report Posted June 22, 2019 You will be sorry you didn't do it sooner..... I have high pressure in my eyes a common form of glaucoma. I was having to put drop in my eyes twice a day (two different meds) to keep the pressure under control. When I had cataract surgery, the dr also inserted two stents in each eye to help control the pressure. I now only have put one drop in each eye a day. I find it all very fascinating that they can do all this to an eyeball while you are awake. They also gave me a video of the first eye surgery being done, I made the mistake of watching it before I had the second eye done.....What they did to the eyeball amazed me, I picture an eye as so delicate and they do all sorts of things, cut, vacuum, insert... and you can't even feel it. It made me more apprehensive about having the second eye done.... but it was easy no pain nothing.... Quote
