new2woodwrk Posted January 16, 2020 Report Posted January 16, 2020 (edited) With the new projects about to start, and almost being able to empty the garage, I re-ran the hoses for my main dust system (the HF 2hp) Here is the old run: From the corner to the ceiling then down the other end of the work table then up to the scroll saw and then over to and up to the table saw It worked, but it was also my first set up I then had my shop vac hooked up to the scroll saw with my DD (Oneida) - it was fine, but inconvenient and it was the only thing running with the shop vac Now, it goes from the corner up to the ceiling and down to the scroll saw and the table saw leaving the shop vac no longer part of the equation Less turns, and took out about 25' of hose It will also be easier to run a connection to any rolling carts if I want or just hook up the shop vac that is no longer hooked to the scroll saw I don't really have the correct connectors, but I make do with what I have (lots of pvc, hose and 2" gates) and it works and no air escapes. Thanks as always for reading Edited January 16, 2020 by new2woodwrk amazingkevin and jollyred 2 Quote
oldhudson Posted January 17, 2020 Report Posted January 17, 2020 I use flexible hose in my shop but the run is only 6-8 feet. With your set-up wouldn't you be better with PVC? new2woodwrk 1 Quote

amazingkevin Posted January 18, 2020 Report Posted January 18, 2020 Oh how I'd love to work in someone's shop for a while to get used to the way things are supposed to be!!! new2woodwrk 1 Quote
Chiloquinruss Posted February 2, 2020 Report Posted February 2, 2020 I use regular hard pvc with flex on the ends. Seems to work ok for most of the tools. Still trying to get a better dust system for the scroll saw though. It's a tricky situation as the scroll saw is such an open area tool! Russ new2woodwrk 1 Quote

Russ Wow, now that's a work shop! Once I get the shop redone, I'll have to rerun everything again. I may bite the bullet and go with pvc - not sure yet since the garage is still a complete mess\ Edited February 3, 2020 by new2woodwrk barb.j.enders 1 Quote
trackman Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 WOW Russ you have a factory on your hands lol. Looks like something you see on TV. Very nice Quote
Chiloquinruss Posted February 16, 2020 Report Posted February 16, 2020 Thanks for the kudos gang, BUT . . . . . . . My face is red by posting such a miss leading pix! It hasn't looked that CLEAN is quite awhile! I don't do big jobs anymore so I don't always do a good clean up after each little job. Sooooo, the little job clean ups gather, and then it's a major clean up job! I should go out to the shop and show you the current state of disarray! Functionally it still works as far as the layout goes but a bigger shop is not necessarily the answer for the 'mess' situation! Thanks again for the kudos I appreciate it! Russ new2woodwrk 1 Quote

Chiloquinruss Posted February 19, 2020 Report Posted February 19, 2020 I used to wear myself out but I have since learned to get three of any tool I need. I have one set at each end of the shop and I have a set in the middle of the shop! I find that really cuts down the 'traffic' flow! I also have multiple stools and some heavy floor pads by most machines. The hardest part is most of today;s modern machines have NO cup holders! Russ Quote
