I belong to the Heart of Ohio Scrollers . Our club does demo's and 1 festival . We do demo's and have people try cutting on thier own. We have always been a mamber of S.A.W. and used thier Insurance.

Since they have been disolved we are looking for a new source that specializes in this type of Insurance. Any help or ideas will be appricated.

Thanks

I use ACT for my business insurance.. and just have the basic liability coverage.. I've been meaning to look around at different options before my re-new date.. but I didn't get to it so I just recently paid for another year.. The basic plan cost about $265 a year..

I'm not sure if it covers what you're looking to cover or not though.. You can select higher coverage in select areas of the insurance too.. but again.. may not cover what you do..

Our club looked into this several years ago, when we allowed our SAW affiliation to lapse.  As I recall, our options were pretty limited and expensive.  We chose not to replace the insurance.  We don't do any hands on demos, so it hasn't been an issue.

Have you contacted the company that did the insurance through SAW?

Maybe you could set up a chapter of AAW (American Woodturners Association).

It may be a subset they would allow.  They seem to have craft schools listed.

In Canada we have a woodworkers association that was set up specifically to buy group insurance and it saved our club a lot of money.  Maybe something similar in you area.
