jblock9907 Posted March 15, 2020 Report Posted March 15, 2020 It had to be done, did not want to but had to do it. I went to Walmart yesterday for non food items. It was crazy. People were actually sneaking things out of other peoples cart. They brought out a pallet of TP and one guy bought the entire pallet. Don't think they should allow that. Last night the Police were called. It was worse than black Friday. After seeing that we decided to try our luck at the local AF Base Commissary. Line was very long and they only let in a few at a time. We had a pretty good time waiting in line. Everyone was calm and level headed. The Girl Scouts were there with their cookies. A couple of people at the front of the line bought a couple of boxes and passed them down the line. They were pretty nicely stocked. Got everything that we needed . Even inside everyone was polite. danny Posted March 15, 2020 Report Posted March 15, 2020 I Really Enjoyed reading your post. Opposite from Walmart here in Huntsville. People Were mostly on the Polite side although still loading their buggies with Multiple items. Yes Many Shelf's were Empty. Crazy Time of Our Lifes at Present. I continue to Pray that God will End this Virus and we All can get back to Normal. Amen Danny :+} amazingkevin 1 Quote

Whisper Posted March 16, 2020 Report Posted March 16, 2020 I saw a bad wind blowing starting January 23. Back then I started buying TP, food, medicine and anything else we might need if stuck at home for weeks. UGH. I'd much rather have been buying more wood for scrolling. Quote
new2woodwrk Posted March 16, 2020 Report Posted March 16, 2020 Since Hurricane Michael, we stay pretty well stocked up, and know how to survive for 90 days with no store options so we think we're good to go for now. Just a few things we learned from that Hurricane... No TP? Just wash yourself if you run out No water? Put buckets outside when it rains and start collecting, got more than 1 bath tub? Fill it up. Got a pool? Fill buckets, 5 gal containers etc. Separate water: drinking, dish cleaning and laundry, washing MRE's to the rescue - we still have 3 boxes from the Hurricane Propane is your friend, specially if you have that kind of BBQ Get to know your neighbors if you haven't already - share the load with each other So many things learned in times of distress RabidAlien 1 Quote

We had to leave a bunch of stuff up at our old house when we moved, but have been slowly rebuilding our stocks. Wife went ahead and bought a few extra food items, but other than that, we were pretty much ready to go. new2woodwrk 1 Quote

The typhoons there hardened me up for this type of scenario. No power for a month at a time, no water for weeks. We missed the entire Gulf War one because cable tv was out for so long after one tore through there. I'm just glad it's time for the garden again here in Alabama. We just got 6 laying hens, they're adorable and still babies. Hopefully that solves the egg problem for a few years to come once they start laying. I'm hinting for a cow but so far my husband thinks I'm joking but I'm not. new2woodwrk and RabidAlien 2 Quote

I'm hearing a lot of moaning and groaning from people I warned to stock up way before it became a thing and scoffed at me. Makes me want to say I told you so, but I'm not that type so I won't do it. new2woodwrk and RabidAlien 2 Quote
Wilson142 Posted March 16, 2020 Report Posted March 16, 2020 lucky for me, I've always been sort of a food hoarder. I have 2 freezers and you couldn't fit another thing in either of them. Same with my pantry. I simply can't pass up a deal when at the market. I usually have a large supply of T paper and paper towels from Costco but I've been telling myself it's overkill for one person.oops! Quote
crupiea Posted March 16, 2020 Report Posted March 16, 2020 I went to walmart every day for the past 4 days. Today was the least crowded. Nobody stealing from carts, just people going about their business and shopping. Not a fancy ne either by any stretch, Just a regular walmart. Quote
Roberta Moreton Posted March 16, 2020 Report Posted March 16, 2020 We shopped on the last day of February as usual. We have been in the house for 5 consecutive days. There are no plans to go out. I will be signing up for the grocery store to shop for me and bring my stuff to my car. danny 1 Quote
