Trivets

[Denny Knappen]

In case you missed it, I cut these for the current issue of "Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts".  They are approximately 8" in diameter and 3/4" thick.  I used Purple Heart for one and Yellowheart for the other.  If I were to make these again, I would eliminate the outer ring of small frets on the Yellow Heart.

They look great and that took some time. I hope you stack cut them so you have extras.

Thanks RJ.  I didn’t stack cut these.  The wood was too hard to stack cut.

They both look great Denny! I plan on cutting both as soon as I get some more wood. 
It looks like you cut the round holes in the Purpleheart one. I plan on drilling them to save time.

Never done any purple heart thicker than 3/8",but for me, Brazilian Cherry is like cutting steel.

The editors wanted them cut in those wood and 3/4” thick.  I have never cut Brazilian Cherry.

Nice cutting, Denny. Purple Heart in 3/4” is tough. I have cut a few things with it, including a detailed crab. Good quality, sharp blades are a must.

I'm still working with "cheap" woods and will eventually graduate to the more expensive woods some day. Wonderful consistency on your cuts Denny. I really like what you've done. Are the designs your own?

Denny, They look good. What blade did you use on the Purple Heart? I've been cutting some and it sure is hard and tough on blades.
