Scrappile Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 (edited) America's cup sail boat racing winners..... Very exciting and they did a masterful job!! I wish they had lost one more race so there would be more to watch, but they did such a great job.... Now we have to wait another 4 years for the next one.... Hope I am around to watch it.... The boats are incredible. They have developed, from the days I started watching, from like the old biplanes to supersonic jets... I have loved every minute of it... grandpuppies Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 I love sailboats and sailboat racing, but the foiling boats bear little resemblance to sailboats and are really not feasable for ordinary people. I like to race and did for many years in San Francisco bay. And when there was a womens team in the race for challenger it was really exciting. But the new generation of boats and equiptment has taken something away from the sport. danny and amazingkevin 2 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 Congrats to the Kiwi's. A few years ago I was able to sail on an older America's Cup boat. We did a "race". It was so exciting to be sailing on the ocean... and even more exciting that our boat True North 4 won!! And then I got to be at the helm. malar, danny, Scrappile and 1 other 4 Quote
Chiloquinruss Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 I dislike the "match" racing format. I would rather see all contenders every time they race. Just my opinion. I have raced 110's (old), 505's (a little newer) and 470's in large fleet races. Have also raced with a C&C 30 which was "almost" as exciting. The foilers are cool but I agree, sailing is in a mono hull! Russ danny, amazingkevin and barb.j.enders 3 Quote

dansnow Posted March 19, 2021 Report Posted March 19, 2021 Congrats to the Kiwis indeed. I find the current evolving of the Americas boats something like Formula 1 racing. They seem to be advancing technology as fast as they can simply because they can. That's why I kinda prefer NASCAR over F1, it's mostly basic racing where it's more the driver than technology, and the cars cost about what F1 pays for the bloody steering wheel!!:) amazingkevin 1 Quote
