BadBob Posted May 18, 2021 Report Posted May 18, 2021 Steve Good has a lot of sign patterns and I have seen patterns in many other places. I'm a bit reluctant to make them to sell since they don't appeal to me. However, most would be quite simple to make and I am tempted to try it. lawson56 1 Quote
Bpardue Posted May 18, 2021 Report Posted May 18, 2021 I've cut several "words" over the years and they sale quite well. Because they are a really quick cut and fairly easy to apply a finish, I sell them on the lower end price scale. Brian danny 1 Quote
ike Posted May 18, 2021 Report Posted May 18, 2021 what do you consider a lower price scale? IKE BadBob 1 Quote

Not sure if you are describing the word cuts from Steve or actual signs, but... I get asked to do "sign" work weekly as well as other custom work which I have to turn down every week Not so much word signs like "Kittens are for everyone" but actual signs - business signs, home signs, large letter signs (3'x5'x4") and so many more! I don't do signs, nor do I have the time to do them and I have few people to pass them on to. So, yes signs do sell. I could make a killing if I had the time to do them LOL Quote

Good money by the hour but i normally just sell my intarsia pieces which care a higher price because of the time those take. danny 1 Quote

BadBob Posted May 19, 2021 Author Report Posted May 19, 2021 I had not thought about business signs. Quote
kmmcrafts Posted May 20, 2021 Report Posted May 20, 2021 Signs are big sellers, BUT.. only if they're personalized.. I've never had great luck with just generic signs, but that could be just my marketing technic.. I will say that if you share a generic sign on Pinterest the CNC / Laser folks seem to be the only ones interested in saving it to their board and most are titled CNC / Laser ideas.. Pretty hard to compete with the CNC ? Laser signs because they have the ability to add graphic carvings to the signs etc.. But anyway, yeah signs sell.. Quote
Norm Fengstad Posted May 22, 2021 Report Posted May 22, 2021 I have best luck with "welcome " signs word type art often takes awhile before it sells. danny 1 Quote

I have seen a lot of those types of signs, but for me I don't think it is worth it to have that amount of inventory set up to sell. There is SO much variation in what people are looking for. With those generic welcome signs, I don't see a lot of traction. It takes someone who has their eye on that style specifically. If you can add the custom element and put a name on it, you will sell far more. I know a friend who bought a Cricut machine, and he just prints the name on vinyl to stick on the wood signs. That sells. Quote

Thanks Personalized sells no matter if it’s signs, clocks, puzzles or ornaments. About 70% of my sales are personalized and I can tag on extra money for additional work. You just have to be willing to work with the customer, it gets hectic at times but also very rewarding to know you’ve made a product specifically for a person and they always love it. Smiles on faces and money in pockets. That’s what it’s about for me and of coarse the process of actually making the piece. danny, bighaas70 and BadBob 3 Quote
lawson56 Posted May 28, 2021 Report Posted May 28, 2021 I have made signs over the years, some sell some do not, I enjoy making them. I sold one last week, I had it for over a year. So I don't make them to often. danny and BadBob 2 Quote

I would need to make at least one to photograph and post a listing. lawson56 1 Quote
