Don't know how many of you actually visit this forum and read these posts.  I know that I very seldom think of checking it out, but it is the only appropriate forum to post this message..

I  just thought I would let all know that I will be away for, hopefully, a short while begining early next week. We are leaving for a vacation trip up to Virginia Beach very early on Tuesday (7/20) morning so Monday will be a get everything done and ready to go day.   We will be back late the following Sunday (7/25).  Think I may leave the PC at home.

The following few days will be very busy, with doctors appointments and all, getting ready for my Partial Knee Replacement surgery on my right knee on Thursday (7/29).  I suspect I will be out of commission for at least a few days untill the pain calms down and I can stop the use of heavy pain meds.  I may be able to check the PC from time to time but I understand sitting with a bent knee is painfullly uncomfortable, so my PC time will be kept short for a while.   PT and walking exercise will be tops on my ajenda for some time, I suspect.

I'm hoping it won't be toooooo very long before I can sit on the stool at the saw and operate the foot pedal with my right foot.  I'm guessing at least a couple of weeks after surgery before that will be possible, so I'm just hoping for the best.

I currently have two projects cut but not quite finished.  I may be able to post one up by Sunday, but the other will be on the shelf for a while as I don't think I can get the painting and framing work done before I go in for the Surgery.

I know y'all are going to miss my posts and words of wisdom...yeah sure! 🤨  But I will try to update this post as soon as  possible to let you know how things are going.

Lookiong forward to our Vacation trip but not the surgery.

Frank, many of us check it this subforum, glad you gave us an update and yes, your posts and words of wisdom will indeed be missed while you are out of commission. 🙂

Enjoy your trip (if this is the trip you need to be taking your dream catchers on for delivery, don’t forget to pack them up in the car. 😉)

Prayers that your surgery goes well and your healing goes smoothly and you are back on your saw and doing your painting sooner then later. In the interim, as you feel up to it, be sure to visit us and impart your wisdom as you recover. 😁

Frank, I just wanted to say that you will be missed and I hope for your rapid recovery. As to the PC, not necessary if you have a smart phone. I do a lot of stuff here on the Village with my phone. Granted, sometimes I can't accomplish what I want to do and have to revert to my PC but most things are doable with my phone. Monitoring all the topics/posts is simple and it's very easy to comment and even start a new topic. So, give it a try. You can do it from your hospital bed or even while you are rehabbing your new knee. Just make sure you do as you are told by your doctor and physical therapist. Our park manager has had both knees done and she was out walking as quickly as she could and had no problems. Best of luck to you.

Quick update 7/27:

Vacation trip over and it was a good time had by all,  even if I did get a bad head cold the last two days of the trip.  My Lady, Daughter and DIL received their Dream Catchers, I made for them, when we all got together last week.  They were very supprised and they appeared to love them. Hanging my Lady's was one of the first thing I had to do when we got home.

I was very tired yesterday from the head cold and the 10 hour drive on Monday.  The cold meds did not help, so I crashed and got some needed extra sleep.  But did manage to get to the Dr pre-op appointment yesterday and things are all go for Surgery on Thursday.

Got a few hours on the saw this AM and knocked out a piece that had only 31 holes.  The backer will be a simple one color paint job.  Cut and assembled a frame for it this morning and now just have to finish it today and tomorrow.  Hope to post pics by tomorrow PM, as it will be the last one until after recooping from the Surgery.  Maybe a week or so, if all goes well.

Frank, glad to hear you had a good trip albeit for the head cold. Glad you made it home safely and got some needed rest before your surgery. Knew the ladies would love their dream catchers. You did nice work on crafting them. Prayers and good thoughts for you and your surgical team for all to go well and a quick recovery. Listen to the medical team and do your rehab as instructed. Check in and let us know how things are going.

Update 7/29/21:

In at 7am, surgery at 9am, home by 1pm.  Able to walk without walker or crutches.

The nerve block in my leg is still working so still no real pain,  only a mild ache right  now.  Nerve block is supposed to work 16 to 48 hours.  Won't  really know how much pain until it wears off.

Looks like I will be able  to operate the pedal switch so I might to get back to scrolling within a few days.

Thanks for your positive comments.

May your pain level be tolerable and if ing the one leg ain't able to work the foot pedal you can use the other one, or unplug and go to using the on/off switch again 😀

Update 7/30/21:

Slep well last night.  Nerve block was still working, so very little discomfort.  It is now after 4PM and the nerve block is wearing off and I feel more pain around the surgery area, but still able to walk without any pain in the knee itself - great feeling after suffering for the last few months.

Had an intitial PT evaluation this moring and he said I should use a cane to take a little weight off the knee while walking.  Additionall he gave me some exercises I need to do to strengthen the quads. Also, need to Ice the knee 4 or more time a day to help reduce the swelling.  Actual PT will start on Monday in home for 6 sessions.

I actually went into the shop this morning and was able to operate the foot switch, so I cut another small pattern with 43 holes in a little over an hour saw time with no difficulty.  I don't have to travel very far from one station to another in my small shop, so I feel I will get back to normal routine even while I'm recoveing.  I have a number of patterns in the to-do  pile that will keep me busy.

I guess I wont be absent for too long and you will have to put up with my post in Braging Rights again soon.

Update 8/3/21:

OK....I did not know how bad it was going to hit me.

Last Friday all was good.  No pain.  Then the nerver block wore off later in the day... WOW!!!!.

The pain hit and I was down and out for the count.  Saturday and Sunday was bad, real bad...could not get out of my recliner although I did push and try to walk as often as possible.  Leg is all swolen and the shin bone is brusied.  Very tender to the touch.  They must have had me in a rack of some kind.  Sleeping for more than a half hour at a time was impossible. A lot of cold pack usage when ever possible to help with the swelling.

Monday morning arrived and PT came with it.   Wow again, did it hurt.  However, it actually helped a lot.  Walking was a lot better and I was finally able to sleep most of the night.

Durring the course of the weekend I was able to answer/comment on a few post but not able to go out to the shop.  This morning after my cup of coffee, a small breakfast and taking some more Tyenol I found the recliner and got a couple more hours of good restful sleep.  Woke up refreshed and the leg felt a bit better so I decided I would see what I could do in the work shop.   I have a simple 46 hole pattern that I was able to cut before haveing to call it quits for the day.   Did not hurt to sit on the stool and operate the foot pedal.

So, I'm fairly happy, I was able to do my PT exercises this afternoon and the pain is subsiding somewhat.  Hopefully, it will get less and less each day.  I guess I can see that perverbial light at the end of the tunnel.  I know it is going to be still some time, but as long as I can put in some shop time I will manage.

Another session of PT in the morning...really looking forward to it, yeah right!

Afraid that was going to happen. Not uncommon once pain management from actual surgery wears off. Why it’s usually a day or two before pain with most surgery seems worse. Glad PT helped. I understand knee is difficult rehab, especially if you don’t do the PT and exercises. Listen and do what they tell you and don’t over do. Prayers continue for good healing and rehab.

Update 8/12/21:

Finished my last PT this morning. PT people very happy with my range of motion, so I just need to keep up the exercises to prevent the knee fromm becoming stiff.

There is still some swelling while the surgery heals, so regular ice pack usage is reccommended.

Pain is well undercontrol with just Tyanol.  Walking is no problem although along with standing for any length of time, my leg does get very tired and the ache gets worse rather quickly.  This occurs when working in the shop when working on frames, applying shelf liner and patterns to panels, when staining or painting, etc., but stool time in front of the saw and pedal operation is no problem.

It has only been two weeks since surgery, so I'm pretty happy with my progress.  I should be pretty much back to normal in a few weeks although I understand it will be 6 to 12 months untill fully healed.

Just post a couiple of projects in Bragging Rights that I have completed durring the last two weeks.
