    Pegas 21"

Me again. Another year has come and gone. The Pegas is still going strong. Used the tilting head for the first time to make some wood plugs to patch a couple holes in a wood floor during a home improvement job. Worked great.
  5. Hello Frank, I see you haven't slowed down a bit - still making beautiful pieces. Regards the dye - does it raise the grain, and if so, do you do anything about it?
  6. Well Done Denny! Clear and consise.
  7. Thoughtful and clever. Good on ya!
  8. Welcome from Delaware. You'll like it here.
  9. I found that website to and have had success with mixing my own. After the first coat, additional coats are a 50/50 mix of poly and MS. I usually get the sheen I want after wiping on 4-6 coats.

  11. sometimes I will use a pin nailer and have found 3/8 inch pin nails to use with my 23 gauge pin nailer. Other times I will tape the outside edges together.

  17. Not in the current day vocabulary, but WOWZA!
  18. A friend wanted some gnomes for a birthday present. I sent her a photo of 6 and asked her which ones. She said all six. I think I'm done with gnomes for awhile.
  19. Welcome from across the pond. Lots of tips and tricks here that will make the entry into this addiction less painful.
  20. "Life is what happens when you make plans" - some wise person once said. Between an unheated garage, a friend who keeps roping in to help him do handy man work, and a wife who has an endless supply of "honey do this", I haven't done much cutting for these past several months. But the saw dust gods and fairies intervened the past few days, (plus warmer weather) making it possible to get some cutting time in. The Delaware sign is a Shelia Landry Design, cut from a recycled maple kitchen cabinet door. Cutting the letters out was an exercise in patience and concentration. And the dough bowl I power carved a log from a friends black cherry tree, primarily using an angle grinder and wood cutting wheels. Both were a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to doing more.
  21. Welcome from Delaware. Steve Good has a few bee patterns you may like.
  22. Welcome from Delaware. Steve Good has some owl patterns you may like. There is a nice one with the owl backlighted by the moon.
  23. Sounds like a match made in heaven. Congrats and welcome from Delaware.
  24. I just finished trying out various finishes on a bench I'm making for a friend using 100 year old barn wood (think its pine, but not sure). On different pieces I tried: Amber shellac - spar urethane satin - tung oil - polyurethane clear gloss - polycrylic satin, and BLO. It's been said beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I liked the water based polycrylic satin the best as it darkened the wood the least, compared to the other finishes. Well see what my friend picks. His bench - his beauty. Oh, and the BLO darkened the wood the most - I was surprised at that.
