oldfa_t Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 I want to explain my membership in this fine forum. My registration was about 3 months before I even had a scroll saw. It took quite a while for me to find an arrangement that I would be able to work in since my wife a I downsized into an apartment. I was just getting started with actual scrolling when my wife took ill and much of my time was caring for her and the apartment. After 49 years with her, everything seemed second nature to me. Then, she had a problem and the local hospital transferred her to a much larger facility about 60 miles away. There she was told that they were going to remove her gall bladder but, once they got there, it was discovered that there was a mass on her pancreas. So, two days passed and they decided to remove the mass which ended up being cancerous. Needless to say, she (my wife of 49 years) passed away within two months. I now know first hand how disastrous grief is. But, I'm getting past that and hopefully I can start scrolling soon. The apartment complex is waiting to be able to move me into a 1 bedroom apartment since I no longer need two, and that will save me some money for wood. I do come to the forum every day to check out The Coffee House for the fantastic cartoons and such, but, hopefully that will change somewhat fairly soon as I get busy. I apologize for the long posting, but I felt this group needed to know that I'm not just a troll with no good to offer. It will come soon, I hope. Thanks to all that took the time to read this, and, we will be chatting sometime soon. Be_O_Be, ChelCass, wombatie and 7 others 3 7 Quote
John B Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 G'day Roger mate, So so sorry to hear of your loss. Hopefully you will be set up soon and be able bring a little happiness back into your life. The Coffee house is a fun place and I must admit I visit often as I don't scroll as much as I used to, or would like. Take care oldfa_t 1 Quote

scrollerpete Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 Sorry about your loss, I see you have a good attitude and here in the village you are in a good place. We are a great bunch and support each other. You will find that scrolling is very relaxing and helpful to occupy tour time. oldfa_t 1 Quote
LarryEA Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 May you seek God each day to be at your side. Scrolling will occupy some of your lonely time. oldfa_t 1 Quote
Dak0ta52 Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 My prayers are with you Roger. This forum is like a second family to me. I, for one, appreciate you sharing your story and I'm sure the other members do also. And I can promise others will also be sending you prayers. My shop is not heated so I've been very slack on producing anything from the saw. Just to cold to get out there and do anything. I have had a few days where I was able to knock something out but through the winter, those days are limited. Yet I haven't had a single member ask why I've not been producing anything. I believe if Travis would take a poll you would find that the members here prefer the friendship from each other more so than what trinket comes off their scroll saw. Peace be with you, my friend and we look forward to seeing your work. oldfa_t 1 Quote
meflick Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 Hi Roger. I don’t believe anyone here has ever considered anyone a troll. We all have things that interfere with our time on the saw. I’m sorry to hear that yours was such a tremendous battle and loss of y your lovely wife of 49 years. I’m sure the grief over your loss is devastating for you. I pray that you can find comfort in the wonderful memories that you had together over those many years. I found scrolling as I was mourning the loss of my mother 6 years ago after she had struggled with Alzheimer’s for several years (after having lost my dad many years before.) I found joy and comfort while scrolling then and I hope you can too. Please know we are here for you whether you are presently scrolling or not. oldfa_t, barb.j.enders and John B 2 1 Quote
spirithorse Posted March 12, 2022 Report Posted March 12, 2022 Hi, @oldfa_t Roger, My condolences on the loss of your wife. Glad to hear that you are hoping to start scrolling more often and visiting the forum. I don't scroll as much as I would like but, keep trying to stay motivated. I was lucky enough to have a lot of people at my place of employment that kept buying crafts from me but, when I retired, those sales really fell off. I hope to get a web-site built up and PayPal set up for payments but, your guess is as good as mine if that will ever happen. My health isn't the greatest so, keeping motivated and ambitious is one of my problems also. So, thanks for your message and I hope to see you here often. Share your projects with us, please. God Bless! Spirithorse John B and oldfa_t 2 Quote
