That is exactly why I do it. It’s fun, keeps me off the streets. John B 1 Quote
new2woodwrk Posted June 6, 2022 Report Posted June 6, 2022 At our usual weekly (Saturday) farmers market, our sales are off as well. However, we just did a new event and did as much in 2 hours as we did the entire 5 the previous day, We are not on Etsy or any of the sales sites, although we do have a website Here is what I am noticing: Regular puzzle items - not selling as well. Custom items continue to sell, but customers squawking at the price. "No I am not going to lower my price, do you know how expensive wood is now?" Also, we've started to make items slightly smaller to save on the cost of the wood - so far so good, and no complaints from customers. We had removed a huge portion of our business, children's art projects and just re-inserted them. Glad we did, what customer will not buy for themselves, they will buy for children! So far so good, we're holding our own and now implementing less expensive items John B 1 Quote

kmmcrafts Posted June 9, 2022 Report Posted June 9, 2022 Normally this time of year I'm focused on making new clocks or puzzles.. throughout the summer months I do make a handful of new ornament styles. There is a slow down for sure however I haven't noticed a huge slow down yet.. knowing what the economy is doing and knowing that with the rising cost of everything there is going to be more people spending less money this next holiday season. Ornaments are huge sellers.. especially personalized ones.. so I'm working new designs of lower cost items rather than focusing on the clocks and puzzles. I'm incorporating more personalized laser photo engraved ornaments etc.. These are quick and easy made compared to personalized scroll sawn ornaments as no pattern required for the laser ones. I'll likely run some on sale items and ads this holiday season.. something I don't do much of is running sales.. however I do price my items so I can afford to take a 20-30% off which takes me to a price that would be profitable still.
