Smoked Tri-Tip

I mentioned last week that the Birthday fairy brought me a smoker. Well today was my first go at smoking. I used a commercially available dry rub. Let it sit all day. Smoked it in the smoker for about two hours, then finished it on the grill. This is the results. My wife said this was possibly the best thing she had ever tasted and she was raised in the south!

Man looks great. Guess my invitation got lost in the mail ? Running a smoker truly raises the enjoyment of eating. Have no idea what I would do with out mine. I will say mine charcoal and wood fired, so it is old school. Don't get much better then what you can do with a smoker.

We tried a smoker but unfortunately the smoke bothered my neighbor. Since we live in a mobile home park we have to be aware of our neighbor's close proximity. So it got sold. Sad! 

Let me know when your next foray will be and I'll bring a side dish. It looks yummy.

Dan, I just had to try it. I smoked the tri-tip for 2 hours and finished it to 150° on the grill. It is a great alternative to prime rib for less than half the price. Thanks Dan!
