Eagle (marquetry) portrait size is 8” x 8” set within a 14” x 14” frame. Pattern is by Roy King. Woods used were pau amarello, butternut, aspen & walnut. Backing is BB with poplar veneer adhered. This is the third time cutting this pattern. Thank you.

Very beautiful piece.  Do you do the double bevel type? Got a book been studying it and collected some tools.  Hope to try may hand at it this next year.  Been saying that for a couple years now.

Thanks Paul. That is correct. Roy King introduced this style of doing marquetry many years ago and he at one time had his own business where one was able to purchase his patterns and a wide selection of ⅛” hardwoods. Unfortunately for some reason it was closed. The double bevel technique using ⅛” hardwoods is much easier and faster than the traditional marquetry using veneers. The best thing about it there are no special tools required. All you need is a scroll saw. Thank you.

Thanks Marg. There are 12 plate patterns to this one. I never keep track of my time but I’m thinking 10 hours.
