Popular Post Dak0ta52 Posted March 27, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 27, 2023 I just purchased a pretty big blade order from artcraftersonline.com and decided it was time to build a rack where blades were organized and more available. I haven't decided to paint, stain or leave it as is. The rack holds 56 vials and I can line them up according to size. I have extra openings for future expansion. wombatie, FrankEV, barb.j.enders and 10 others 13 Quote
Peter N White Posted March 27, 2023 Report Posted March 27, 2023 Looks good nice to be organised. Dak0ta52 1 Quote
flarud Posted March 27, 2023 Report Posted March 27, 2023 (edited) Nice! I made one a couple of years ago from a maple that fell on my sisters house. To remember which blade I am using, I put the tube back in the rack upside down. Edited March 27, 2023 by flarud barb.j.enders, Dak0ta52 and JessL 2 1 Quote

Great idea on turning the tube upside-down. Haven't thought of that. My big issue is remembering how much I've used the blade in the saw. Sometimes when I leave the saw on Sunday evening it may be the following Saturday before I can get back to the saw. I started writing a number from 1 to 10 on a piece of painter's tape and putting it on the saw table. If the blade is relatively new, I'll put a #1. The more I've used the blade, them higher the number. FrankEV 1 Quote

FrankEV Posted March 28, 2023 Report Posted March 28, 2023 The following is a copy of the pics I included in a reply I posted to Judy (ChelCass) in Bragging Rights. "Saw blade holders". I don't understanding why a lot of y'all have such a big selection of blades. I have difficulty in choosing which blade to use for what kind of cutting I'm doing and I don't like to change blade size during a cutting. So I tend to work with the smallest blade needed for the cutting. Probably better topic for a different posting since here we are just looking at blade storage racks. Mine is a little simpler, just a flat piece of 1/4 " thick wood of some kind mounted to the side of my Pegas Saw. Very convienent since I break a lot of blades. Seventeen holes for tubes. Would not know what to do with more tubes. You can see some are empty and many I NEVER use. Dak0ta52 1 Quote

I very rarely have to worry about that. Since I mostly use small blades, mine most often break, or get so baddly bent out of shape, they have to be replaced before they get dull. If and when I use a large blade it will tell me when it needs to be replaced. If I have to push rather than just gently help move the board to follow the line, its is time to replace the blade. Of course, I don't always listen! Dak0ta52 1 Quote
JessL Posted April 16, 2023 Report Posted April 16, 2023 My husband built me a blade rack to try out. This is out of a chunk of cottonwood I believe. It is setup to the right of me when sawing. The blue tape labels are temporary at the moment. The large hole is all new blades and the small hole in front of them are for used blades that are still good. One of the slots is used for misc blades I had laying around and not sure what size they are. The file shown in the picture is used to remind me what current blade I am using, since I'm switching a lot while learning what all these blades do. I've only had it setup for 2 days and like it so far. That empty slot now has some thin sanding strips I made. Mark SW and Dak0ta52 2 Quote
