Popular Post GrampaJim Posted March 31, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) I have made this one multiple times, each time a little different. (Depending on what is my "scrap-box") Redheart for the flower, wings and neck. Mahogany for most of the body. Can't say I like the body coloring - next time I will try something with more contract to the backer piece. Pattern by Judy Gail Roberts. Scrappile Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 It is a beautiful piece. I am trying my first difficult intarsia right now, and I am struggling. It is fun, but a struggle because I am trying to accomplish it with the tools I have on hand... I can see if I want to do more I may have to buy more tools Oh MY, BUY MORE TOOLS. Wahoo have not had a reason to do that for a long time. But I can see it is a fun endeavor and I think I will want to do more. I find it very exciting the things being shown on here in the past few month. More segmenting, more intarsia, the epoxie fill pieces, more 3D cutting and the new one @Dave Monk showed just a while back the plaque the that was what extended inlay, totally new. So much to try, so little time, let's start winter over again I do not want to go work in the yard, I want to stay in my shop and play. Boy,,, did I get myself wound up,,, hang on, grandpa is excited,,, As my grandson tell me "settle down, grandpa"!! barb.j.enders, JackJones and Gene Howe 1 2 Quote

I got a used slow speed grinder, put the sanding drum on one side and a arbor like a drill press (for star sanders) on the other. https://intarsia.com/collections/hardware/products/flex-drum-sander BTW, I hate sanding. Would much rather sit at my saw and do fret work. LOL Scrappile 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 Well I have the slow speed grinder.. Thanks for the info. I hate just sanding but I like "shaping". That is another level of sanding. This is the handle I made for my hand crank street organ.. shaped by hand sanding took me many hours but I did enjoy doing it. Scruffydog, GrampaJim and JackJones 3 Quote
