Tallbald Posted June 15, 2023 Report Posted June 15, 2023 (edited) I needed one "store-boughten" board for our shop table project and was looking over stuff at Home Depot three days ago. Spied this old, slow growth yellow pine beauty. It's been years since I've held a board such as this. Very heavy and dense. Rings like a wooden bell when tapped with a hammer. Clear and hard hard hard. Even my compound miter saw slowed down with cuts on this one. Waiting for my beloved Penny to come out of the crafting store I started counting annular rings (growth rings) and stopped at 65+. Almost hated to slice into this gem but I consoled myself with thoughts about using it respectfully in a valued project. If I'm wrong about my understanding of this board please correct me friends. One thing for certain. From now on when I head to The Depot I plan to search for more old growth treasures to bring home. Don. Scrappile Posted June 15, 2023 Report Posted June 15, 2023 Nice, very nice! Sometimes it pays to look closely when visiting the big box stores. I keep watching mine for their blue Pine and very colored popular. MarieC 1 Quote
Dak0ta52 Posted June 15, 2023 Report Posted June 15, 2023 I bet it smells good also, especially when you cut it. Quote
