I love Hampton Inn.  That was my go-to when I was traveling the USA for work.  When I was out of the country it was Grand Hyatt in order to get the same level of service, albeit the hotels and amenities were way top-notch.

Back in 2006, I lived at a Hampton Inn for 60 days as I was relocating for work, and they were paying for my relocation.  They treated me like royalty. I had a small suite as my family joined me after the 30-day mark.  They even allowed my cats.

We used to go to the Hampton Inn by Rochester NY for their "Winter Freeze" special.  We got 3 nights in a suite with a gas fireplace.  They gave us free pizza coupons, popcorn, and other goodies.  My wife and I would go out to dinner across the street and my daughters would stay at the H.I> and have pizza, watch TV, and have popcorn and soda.  Then over the weekend my wife and girls would do Christmas shopping as I stayed at the fireplace reading, or enjoying the indoor pool and fitness center.

Earlier this week, I had to go down to Indianapolis for an outpatient procedure.  It was scheduled early in the morning and I needed to stay overnight before it.  I stayed at a Hampton Inn in Fishers Indiana.  What a pleasant surprise.  The staff was exceptionally was nice and the hotel spotless. I have stayed in hotels around the world and this rates near the top.  The check in person gave me a list of nearby restaurants and suggested a brew house.  Another great thing.  I normally do not drink but had an apple code beer with my burger....Yummmmy

I arrived at the hospital early and thought I would be waiting awhile. NO WAY...they took me back and got the procedure completed before my appointment time.  The doctor and nurses were very nice and answered my many questions.

On the way home, I stopped at a Starbucks and they were much more pleasant than normal.

I wrote both the hotel and hospital to thank them.

I feel so lucky with alk this that I should buy a lottery ticket.

We've had great experience with Hampton Inns too. Can't say the same about Starbuck's. When they refused to serve the local P.D. we swore off.

My local Starbucks fairly often has the police in it.

We have a Starbuck's right across the street from where we live. A couple of years back when all the hubbub about defunding was going full tilt, our local store refused to serve the local P.D. They took it tough after that. For me, I refuse to pay the outrageous prices they charge.

Each Starbucks is usually locally owned so they set their own rules to some extent.  I enjoy a latte every once in awhile...what else should I do with my pennies.  I can not take it with me and I earned it so I will enjoy it.

My original comment Starbucks was that I got very good service that day and I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, if I stopped going to a company that has had a negative story written about it, there would be nowhere to go.   People are complaining about everything.  The other side is that I have seen absolutely obnoxious people in Starbucks. Talking so loud on cell phones and complaining about everything,

I have even heard someone complain about a police officer because he makes them afraid.   We live in a very weird time.

So right you are. But for coffee, McD's is still the best. As for latte, I've not had the pleasure. I'm a simple guy.

I think McDonald's is the worst coffee on earth...IMHO.  In general, most restaurants do not make very good coffee.

We make a pot of coffee every morning and grind the beans that morning.  My absolute favorite was Mountain Thunder coffee from Kona but the price is too much.   Right now we are enjoying Jack Rabbit coffee.  The beans are roasted just before shipment.  I stopped buying Starbucks beans because they tend to be old and stale.  We also use a Keurig and are drinking Angelino's k-cups.  I like to try various coffee brands and find ones that I enjoy.  Coffee is like scroll saw blades as everyone has a favorite and nobody wrong.

You are so right. But, Barb and I are what we call "coffeeholics". We start each day with a 10 cup pot of regular coffee. Then when that is gone we switch over to de-caf. We have that going all day and evening. Probably about 4-5 pots a day. We use nothing but the Kirkland coffee in 3 lb. cans. A very fine grind that goes a long way. Much farther than a regular grind. Anyway, as you said, just like blades. And I'm sorry to hear that about your McD's coffee. All of our McD's serve fresh hot coffee all day and evening. Always good and strong. Never had a bad cup.
