barb.j.enders Posted January 25, 2024 Report Posted January 25, 2024 Well, here it is. The next project. Tulips by Judy Vierstra. Pictures are the pieces all glued up and then just the leaves cut. Leaves are on Poplar. The tulip is on Cherry. I cut the leaves with #5 Precision full reverse from Sawbird. I wasn't as precise as I hoped. There will be cleaning up to be done to get rid of the gaps. Another learning opportunity!! It also appears that the printer wasn't set right so this pattern is a little larger than the original print out. jollyred, JJB, Dak0ta52 and 4 others 7 Quote

barb.j.enders Posted January 28, 2024 Author Report Posted January 28, 2024 Some shaping done today. Not unhappy with it. A little unsure on what & where to sand as there were no shaping instructions with the pattern. meflick, Dave Monk and JackJones 3 Quote

barb.j.enders Posted February 5, 2024 Author Report Posted February 5, 2024 Here is the latest on the project. The flower heads are not glued to the stems. I am trying to decide on backer style. I was going to do the "just smaller than" the whole thing. Hubby has suggested gluing to a larger backer and shadow box frame. Any thoughts??!! JackJones and Dan 2 Quote

barb.j.enders Posted February 8, 2024 Author Report Posted February 8, 2024 So, I went out "thrifting" and found an old mirror with an interesting frame. Brought it home with the intent to sand and repaint the frame. I was originally going to put the tulips on a backer, but thought they looked quite nice on the mirror itself. Well, the frame turns out to be plastic and the small sanding flap wheel was too aggressive on the delicate details. That had me "bummed out" for the rest of the day. I am going to try sanding some of the trim flat then repaint, hoping it doesn't look awful. Otherwise, back to trying to figure out how to mount them. Quote
