jimmyG Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 (edited) Saturday morning, got a little snow over night, not real cold in the work shop but for some reason I just can't get motivated to do anything. I looked at some patterns, have plenty of supplies but nothing stirs my creative juices. Maker's Block??? I did receive one of those Home Depot 10% off coupons good until 3/31 so maybe I could look at the planers again and wait for one to go on sale like that Dewalt DW734 that was advertised for $399 "briefly" last year... barb.j.enders Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 We have all been there. Maybe just putter around doing a bit of cleaning? Sorting? That type of thing. GrampaJim, jimmyG and danny 3 Quote
ChelCass Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 Harbor Freight has their Bauer Planer on sale till 2-29-24 for 299.99. I bought this planer for hubby for Christmas. He has used it several times and love it. Hasn't had any chipping so far. Might be something you want to consider. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Been doing my research it's narrowed down to the spiral Wen pl1326 or the Drwalt Dw734 OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 I have been there several times over the years, in fact, experiencing it now. I will get over it as I have in the past and get back to it. Just take a break and be patient! OCtoolguy, danny and jimmyG 1 2 Quote

jimmyG Posted February 17, 2024 Author Report Posted February 17, 2024 Took your advice and just did some cleaning and organizing and tossing small scraps of wood that's not good for anything... barb.j.enders and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 I've been in a funk for about 4 months. I can't even blame the weather as it has been mild to wet. I've got some projects that I want to start on. I think part of my problem boils down to the cost of materials. We try to stay on budget and this time of year all the large bills hit us. All the taxes and insurances come due. I've got a lot of wood stocked but not the right stuff for my projects. danny 1 Quote

How do you do that? I can't throw any wood away. I'm just like my Dad. He always kidded that he had a box of string made up of pieces too short to save. jerry walters and barb.j.enders 2 Quote

jimmyG Posted February 17, 2024 Author Report Posted February 17, 2024 Most of what's in my one car garage shop fits together kind of like a puzzle, and tiny scraps of wood that I've been saving for too long just don't fit in... Didn't say it was easy to do! Just starting out with woodworking five months ago I've gathered tools and materials but lacking in the knowledge department. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
