Jim McDonald Posted March 23, 2024 Report Posted March 23, 2024 I see quite a few blade changes in your future! This is going to keep you busy for an hour or two . What type of wood and thickness? Quote

I am using a 1/4" blank of mesquite that has been sitting there begging for a good project, this seemed like a good use for it. danny 1 Quote

kmmcrafts Posted March 25, 2024 Report Posted March 25, 2024 Oh this reminds me... I cut this one a couple years ago and forgot to put it on the website. Actually have a lot of stuff like this over the last couple years because since the lock downs from covid my wife and son worked from home and our internet is not good enough for me to upload photos to make listings so I always had to do that stuff when they wasn't working.. and many times it just didn't get done. I stack cut mine from 1/8" BBply and then cut a slightly larger 1/4" plywood walnut backer. It's a fun one to cut.. looks like a lot of holes but it's not too bad really once you get going. Looks like you're using Cherry? It'll be beautiful when finished, I'm looking forward to seeing this. Quote
TAIrving Posted March 30, 2024 Author Report Posted March 30, 2024 Finished cutting, not yet finished. The wood is 3/8" mesquite. Unfinished it does look like cherry, but looks quite different when finished. When finished, the mesquite will be darker brown without the reddish tones one gets with cherry. It is a delicate piece, prone to breakage, especially at the bottom. I intend to fill it with clear epoxy to stabilize it to prevent breakage. I will post that when done. brew, flarud, Juan Rodriguez and 2 others 5 Quote
