Next on the Saw

This is the next piece on the Saw.  Pattern by Janet Square, Bouys on a Post.  Woods used so far:  Poplar, Rainbow Poplar, Quilted Maple, Aspen, Pine, Spruce, Cherry, Spanish Cedar.  I still have to decide on the wood for the ropes.  I think I am going with Sapelle.  The bits at the bottom right are Walnut and are the tips of the ropes.  Using #5 MG blade.

A bit of work on the project.  Somewhere, somehow a piece went missing.  Had to re-cut.  It wasn't even a small piece!!

Don't worry. It will turn up sometime near winter. Always long after the recut.

I found a piece, that went missing a year ago.  It was stuck in the belt sander dust port!!

Some more progress today.  Bouys are glued up and shaped.  Did a bit more shaping on the post.  Got some of the ropes cut.

All parts are now cut.  Now it is cutting apart the teeny tiny rope pieces!!!  Some of it done.  I did use paint to darken the Walnut on the ends of the ropes.

Yesterday's progress.  The piece by the ruler had fallen on the floor.  Glad I was able to find it! Should be able to finish the shaping today.  Then it is cut the backer, glue up and finish!

Some glue up.

Glue up is done.  Had some issues with the Masonite backer.  On the small rope & tag, on the right, the backer broke.  There were some words spoken!!!  Now to do some final sanding and apply the finish.

Finish going on.  I love how the colour changes with the shellac.
