Butterfly

This is another one of the "contest" intarsia projects from a FB group I am a part of.  Woods used:  Zebrawood, Reclaimed Elm, Sapelle, Walnut, Spruce, Maple & Aspen.  Non-wood items - copper tape (around the Aspen plugs) and brass wound guitar string (antenna).  4 coats of shellac.  Lucille Crabtree was the designer.

Thanks.  This one fought me all the way.  Between some of the cuts, issues with the wood, glue up, cutting the backer and even the antenna!!!  Glad it is done.

I redid the pattern before I even started it.  The lines were too think to suit me and I made it red so I could see it better.

I actually liked how thick the lines were.  Made it easy to split.  I don't have a colour printer so I don't have the options to print red.

Sadly I did not win the contest.  They break it down to two categories.  Beginner - having done Intarsia less than a year.  Or advanced.  I enter in the beginner category as it has been less than a year.  I have done less than 10 intarsia projects.  The person who won had been doing intarsia about the same time as me but had done over a dozen projects.
