Nice work.  Intarsia tends to e a lot of sanding. I took class from Judy Gale Roberts and she was always having you sand More! 😂

Green is hard to find.  Some people have found some "green" poplar at the big box stores (Home Depot and Lowes) in the past. I have never had that luck. Nothing wrong with staining something if it gives you the look you want for YOUR piece of artwork.  Unfortunately, yellowheart has become hard to find apparently it is imported and is getting hard to get.

Very nice.

If you realy want to color the leaves, I might suggest using a wood dye in lieu of stain.  the dyed wood looks more natural.

Dyes can be found online.  It is extreamly concentrated and I tiny pinch goes a long way.

Just a thought FWIW.

Ocoochhardwoods.com has Yellowheart.
