Allen levine Posted November 22, 2024 Author Report Posted November 22, 2024 This one turned out a failure looked good for some reason it glued up poorly not sure why maybe one piece was off and I tried to break head off but no luck inthiught about cutting head and eyes off but odds of me getting perfect cut for new piece just not worth it so my grandson is getting this one I have no choice he is waiting for it and he is 4 my biggest mistakes were stupid first I tried to fill in gaps and then sand off with dremel but once things are glued up forget it then I applied oil anyway and the paint on nose and eyes ran im moving on to next pattern when I start again in 2 weeks mynwife says he will love it I learned a lot from this piece and will never make this mistakes again its not going into the fire pit but I won't be showing to anyone BadBob, MarieC and barb.j.enders 3 Quote

Allen levine Posted November 23, 2024 Author Report Posted November 23, 2024 My next attempt I'm thinking about using plastic dog eyes for this not that the author/designer's pattern is undesirable I just have a boatload of eyes as I used to make doggie planters out of scrap 2 bys i made mostly dogs out of 2 bys that resembled the dog I was copying the eyes were important to make a decent look heres some the beige dog was a therapy dog in a school so I made a bunch of lookalikes for them to auction off to raise money for pta The only other one I have a pic of is a friends dog remember it's just 2x6's so it's not art heres also the next attempt and what I'm thinking barb.j.enders 1 Quote
