Scrappile Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 Last evening was bedtime, Patti and I had just gotten to bed, and there was someone knocking on the door. This never happens. But my wife jumps up and heads to the door. Humm. I do not do that, I would go to the door, packing. But, lo and behold, who is at our door, but our Grandson! We have not seen since 2021. Flew in from Tennessee. So, not expecting him, the house is a mess, and no bed is ready. But who cares? I give him my bed after changing the sheets, and I sleep on the floor. Being a Marine, I sleep there better anyway. What a great surprise! Anyway, this morning we are playing around and he wants to see my shop and what I have been making. This is what happened. He wanted to try my scroll saw. He loved it! He is a natural and back at it this evening. The first family member who has really shown interest in trying it. Guess who in the family inherits my scrollsaws! Dak0ta52, TAIrving, Wichman and 6 others 8 1 Quote

jerry walters Posted Friday at 10:09 PM Report Posted Friday at 10:09 PM I agree Paul, a little late but what a surprise. My Grandson said he wanted to try my saw but when he would be here he would say "Not today Grandpa". Oh well, I didn't start until after I retired. Jerry OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Wooden Lace Posted Saturday at 04:21 PM Report Posted Saturday at 04:21 PM My son used to help me with wine glass caddy orders when he was in his 20's. Sure was nice to have help. i've given up on those now...25 years later....since the new house doesn't have a shop that I can do finishing in. Too bad, since we brought STACKS of nice planed hardwood with us. Good thing ornaments in baltic birch just need lightly sanded, so I can keep cutting something to justify the new King 16" saw I added last week. Great size for small projects. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted Saturday at 07:56 PM Report Posted Saturday at 07:56 PM Paul, we don't have a "love" symbol so I gave you a thank you. I'm so happy for you. I have no grandchildren who are remotely interested in what I do. That is just great for you. He will be getting a treasure trove of stuff and if you have the time together, a ton of knowledge.
