coldwood Posted November 2, 2025 Report Posted November 2, 2025 (edited) Inkscape.. Why is it that when I open Inkscape a page shows up and I click FILE/ OPEN and it opens another page on top of the one I dont need. so I dont want the page underneath. How do I fix that? Also if I want to move the object on the page to centre it, around by clicking the pointer it moves the page and not the object within the page.? don in brooklin on Posted November 3, 2025 Report Posted November 3, 2025 I down load and open in Inkscape I get the image on top of the Inkscape canvas. If you select the image you get get the arrows. Note it I double click on the downloaded file the image is directly over the canvas but same to get off the canvas. Now drag the image to left or right. I went left and then path-trace bit map, If you have any other questions please let me know. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BadBob Posted November 3, 2025 Report Posted November 3, 2025 Open it from Steve's PDF by selecting the page with the bird pattern. Then select the objects that you do not want and delete them. Steve's patterns are already in SVG format. What you have is a bitmap, most likely imported from a two-page PDF. Right-click on the PDF file you want to open. Select Open With and choose Inkscape. It will open the import dialog window Unselect all and scroll through the page until you see the page you want Click OK Select any objects you don't want and delete them. I don't use Windows, so this might vary a little, but it should be essentially the same, except for the wording. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

coldwood Posted November 3, 2025 Author Report Posted November 3, 2025 Guess I want to keep the copy that has the nodes and use it? OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Yes, the nodes indicate the image is the .svg and scalable. The other image is the original and is much less managable is you are trying to enlarge or reduce the size. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
