I left the ash natural, no finish. I used my dremel to cut small grooves and put small holes in it. Then used my wood burner to put burn marks on and around it. Travis 1 Quote

I know PSI now has an expandable chuck that fits inside the brass and you tighten a screw to expand it to hold the wood from the inside... could be good if you want to keep the end of the ash solid.. hard to tell if it is in your pic..
