We just got The Fishing Hole done. Its 17†X 22†and has 87 pieces. We used only 5 different woods, WRC for the river bottom, Blue Pine for the water, Black Oak for the stump, Yellowheart for the belly of the frog. All the different shades of Poplar make up the rest. We added carving and depth to the project with the pectoral fin of the larger fish raised ¾â€.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

The scales were made using tools made from brass tubing. We used 7/32†& 3/16†tubing and then the tubes were cut and glued in a piece of wood dowel. When the glue dried we sanded the tips at approx. 20-30 degrees. This allowed us to use a hammer and get the half round shape of the scales. When doing this it’s always better to practice on a piece of scrap to get the feel and know how hard to hit it.
