Travis Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Here's a silly question. I'm organizing the Pattern Library and I came across this pattern by Barry: I'm a bit ignorant about Jewish culture. Is it Shalom in a religious context, or is it a generic greeting? I'm trying to decide if it belongs in the Religious category, or the Word Art category. Thanks for the help. Quote
Messman Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 My understanding of Shalom, it means Peace. Berry if I have this wrong please speak up, but it is used in both greetings and when someone says goodby. When it is used in greeting it means something along the line peace be upon on and when some one is leaving it means along the line go in peace. Quote
Messman Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Forgot to say that I would but it in the word art section. Quote
Barry5180 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner Travis. Shalom is one of those words that has many meanings. Hello, Goodbye, Peace. I would put the pattern in wordart myself. It does not have any particular religious context except for the fact it is written in Hebrew. Barry Quote
