Are you talking about the list of posts within a forum? If so, the posts that are bold (that look black and bold) means they're unread posts. Posts that are not bold (maybe look a bit gray because they're not bold) are posts you have read. So it would make sense if it's your post, it wouldn't be bold because you already read that. But for the rest of us who have not read it, it will be bold. So this is how I see it, because I have not read the post: Now, I'll click into it, and read the post, then come back out. Now this is what I see: I think this is what you mean. Let me know if I misunderstood.

No changes have been made. It sounds like your browser on your phone isn't accepting cookies to track your online session. That's why you're getting the ads and that error page. It forgets that you're logged in. You can try seeing if your phone needs updating. Maybe check cookie or privacy settings. Maybe another program like AdBlocker is causing issues.

Holy Cow! I've been a member since Dec, 2008! Thanks everybody for the kind words. It's nice to know that folks are finding SSV useful. We're a small and humble community, but the folks here are what make this place great. A community is made of amazing people....not the house where people meet. I think there are a lot of great communities out there. Forums like SSV has fallen a bit out of fashion as communities move to social media platforms. But I think they'll swing back this way. With social media, the content is very fleeting. Conversations and content is only visible for a short amount of time, before it disappears into the ether. It's also easy to get lost in the crowd and feel isolated. Creating friendship with strangers on those platforms is difficult and you'll find that toxicity that can easily grab a foothold in those groups. Specialized interest groups like SSV offer an alternative. I think it's easier to build stronger friendships and much easier for us to organize and find information, which is what a lot of folks are looking for. Here's a little insider baseball for y'all. Online communities naturally follow what's called the 90-9-1 Rule (it's a real thing, you can look it up). Basically what it means is that 90% of people in a community are consumers. These would be the lurkers and folks that come to read the articles, browse user galleries, and download free patterns, etc. They don't participate, they're just here to enjoy the site. 9% do participate, usually at a casual level. They are the ones who join the conversations, leave comments, likes, etc. 1% are the ones who actively participate in the community. These are often called the content creators. So they are the ones who start brand new discussions, post tutorials, fulfill pattern requests, and post their own patterns. So, when you see that there are 120 people online, but only 14 logged in.....that's about what you'd expect. Out of those 14 or so people logged in, you'll probably find 1 or two that are active posters. Honestly, this really doesn't bother me. I knew this going in. I wanted to build a place that had a lot of great information and a place for like-minded folks to share ideas, projects, and friendship. I want it to be a resource for those who are new to the hobby, so it can fuel their excitement. I want a place for seasoned scrollers to pass on their knowledge and have fellowship with other woodworkers. I think hobbies are really important and I want to help as many folks as we can to find ways to enjoy our free time and be creative. My goal is to be helpful and useful. I'm happy to provide a clubhouse for people to hang out at. But it's the amazing members that make this place a community. As long as I can keep this site sustainable, I'll continue to serve the scrolling community. SSV memberships go a long way in making that happen. So thanks to everybody who chose to become an SSV Patron. It makes a big difference.

Slow, but sure. Here's another one I moved over to the Project Workshop. A great one for Thanksgiving....in fact, I think this is my only Thanksgiving decor I have....LOL This one doesn't have a design tutorial, but the pattern is available to SSV Patrons. Enjoy!

FREE for SSV Patrons! We are doing a Giving Thanks scroll saw challenge over at Scroll Saw Village for the month of November. So here is word art project inspired by scripture. From 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In all things, give thanks...” Even outside of the Thanksgiving holiday, I think it’s a lovely reminder to be grateful for the things we have. Great project to stack cut so you have copies to give friends and family. Finished with a simple acrylic spray topcoat. Measures about 11″x10″ Check out the step-by-step tutorial here:Free-

FREE for SSV Patrons! Here’s a quick and easy project that would be a great craft show seller. Cut from ¼” stock and add a magnet to the back. To use, keep the “Dirty” part of the sign facing up. When you start your dishwasher, flip it to “Clean.” Once the dishwasher is unloaded, flip it back over to “Dirty.” Now you’ll know with a glance if your dishes are clean or dirty (without the bother of actually opening the dishwasher). Check out the step-by-step tutorial here:Free-

This month's challenge is about fun and games. Post your game or puzzle projects here! Have you made a game? Chess, checkers, cribbage, or some other game? How about puzzles? Jigsaw puzzles, free-standing puzzles, mind teaser puzzles? Post those here. I love games and puzzles. I can't wait to see them.

The affiliate thing made me laugh. $4 commission off of $20k isn't too far from the truth.

Village University - I messed up big time!
Travis replied to Travis's topic in General Scroll Sawing
Well, with all that, I was finally able to move the Village University. The software I bought to run the classes became broken and useless, so I built my own version. At the end of the day, I think this will work better, look nicer, and you won't have to "Enroll" to view the lessons. I'm a little sad that we lost all the comments, though. There was good discussions in there. Anyway, check out the new University. Let me know if you see anything odd or missing. https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/village-university/ -
I'd keep an eye on Inkscape. They're not the type of group to let incompatibility last for long. Check on the Mac store and search for "Vector Graphics" and see what pops up. Other alternatives are Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator. All of these options will cost money and probably will have a steeper learning curve since they tend to be used in a professional setting and needs a ton of flexibility. But YouTube is a great place to learn....and you might like it better.

Here are a few downloadable resources you may find helpful. Many of the downloads are also available in the individual lessons. Links to the lessons have been provided where available. More information on how to use these downloads is explained in the appropriate lesson. This resource is a centralized location for all downloads and handouts.
