Shoot me a PM with the link and I'll help you out.

That turned out really nice. I use my laser mostly for embellishments/engraving on my woodworking projects. I also use it to mark my name/date on projects. Anyway, engraving messages is a great upsell that doesn't take long once you have things dialed in.

Here's how to turn on JavaScript on your iPad. I'd make sure it's on. https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-enable-javascript-on-ipad
-
It almost seems like it's not loading your JavaScript. I'm not sure how you'd fix that, though. I'd imagine it's a setting on your iPad. I turned off Lazy Load, see if that helps. For iPad Navigation, you click Community>Forums. If you're on a desktop computer, you can click Community and it will automatically take you to Forums.
-
I'll send you a PM.

I checked it on mine too. Everything seems to be working OK. The quick reply box at the bottom of the forum seems to be about the same size as before. I have a feature called "Lazy Load" which basically means it doesn't download the pictures untill you scroll to them. Its supposed to help with bandwidth and page load times. But maybe it's a bit too slow? Does your browser seem to spin as if it's trying to load when you're looking at pictures?
-
It depends on how you set it up. There should be a check mark during the checkout process that indicates if it will auto-renew or not. I think it defaults to auto-renewal, if I remember right. It just depends on how you want to do it. We have members who do it manually, others have it set up to automatic. Thanks for the support!

is it happening all of the time, or just every once in awhile? Which web browser are you using?

Hi All. I got an email that had an interesting idea. They were looking for tech help, but didn't know where to ask. Since it's not really scroll sawing, Coffee House is really the only place I could think of. But it got me thinking that I can set up an area for special interest topics. It wouldn't clutter up the main forum, and you'd only see it if you decide to join the group. Some ideas: Tech Support - members helping members on computers, software, other electronic devices. Health - weight loss, exercise, diet, etc. Recipes - share recipes, etc. Other woodworking topics - woodturning, standard woodworking, building, etc. (We'll keep scroll saw topics on the main forum) Other Crafting/Hobbies - Maybe a catchall for all other hobbies. I tried this when SSV first opened it's doors in 2009. There wasn't a whole lot of use. But I guess the success of one of these groups is the activity level of it's members. I think if I set this area up, it would be only for SSV Patrons. A little "something extra" for those who support SSV. Is this something you'd be interested in? If so, what other special interest groups would you like to see?

You can start designing at any point. The rules are the same every year. 5 unique ornament patterns not available anywhere else. I prefer SVG files, since they make my job easier. But I can also accept JPG and PNG. You can send them to me at any time and I'll hold onto them for you. I'll make the official call for designers on Nov 1st. I'll need the patterns the Wed before Thanksgiving (Nov 25) so I can publish the book on Thanksgiving. I hope that helps.

It's a work in progress. Still tweeking. I updated the software and things change. So I try to make it look as nice as I can. I know nobody likes change, but if I don't keep the software up to date, in a few years SSV becomes so out of date, it no longer functions (we almost ran into that a few years ago, if folks remember the olden days of SSV). When technology leaves us behind, we have a dead site. I do the best I can with the tools I have. Everything still works the same, if that helps.
-
I updated the look a bit. Not a drastic change, but something a bit cleaner. I might be reworking the navigation bar, too. Everything still works the same way, though.
-
Not really. It's mostly under the hood. But these upgrades never go as smoothly as their brochure says. I'll be changing the look a bit, but I'm still working on that.
-
Hi All. I've updated SSV's software. Let me know if something is wonky and I'll take a closer look. Thanks all!

I think you may have linked SSV and FB at some point. I'm not sure why it's asking for authorization again, though. Maybe they're just making sure? I haven't had anybody else report it, so I can't imagine they'd make everyone do it. Maybe your FB password changed, or you changed your FB preferences? Not sure. I'll keep an eye on it. I'll be updating the SSV software soon, so maybe that will fix it. FB is always changing their stuff, which is probably good.

Howdy all. We've been doing these scroll saw challenges since 2017. I think they're a lot of fun and I love seeing what you guys come up with. But, I gotta be honest, I'm running out of good ideas. But, since you're a clever bunch, I'd like to get some ideas from y'alls. What would make some fun scroll saw challenges? Post as many as you can here. Hopefully I can get a pool if ideas that will last me a few more years. Thanks for your help!

It's October! Time to pull out my Halloween decorations. Not sure how Halloween is going to play out this year, which makes me a little sad for the kids. But at least I can decorate the house. This month's theme is October. It can be Halloween, fall, harvest, pumpkins, Green Day or whatever you think of. Have fun with it!

Hi All. I remove the B&R patterns because they are based on copyrighted material. DC and Marvel are aggressively territorial about their properties. I want to make sure we keep the lawyers off our lawn. For more info about copyrights, check out the pinned thread at the top if this forum. They are also explained in the User Guidelines. Thanks for understanding.

One of the things I think about in August is the car shows. In my hometown, there would be a few official ones, which were fun. But there are also the pop-up shows that just appear at a restaurant parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. Usually some car club that meets up at a 50's diner, grab a burger, and then shows off their cars. I'd see one of those, pull over to look at the "fancy cars" (as my son called them). I kinda miss that this year. So how about we have our own car show? Post a pic of a scroll saw project featuring some sort of car, motorcycle, truck, military vehicle, bicycle, skateboard, or whatever. As long as it has wheels! Looking for some inspiration? Check out our Transportation section in the Pattern Library. When you post, share a memory of a vehicle you loved. My first car was a 1983 Silver Camaro. It was only a V6, but it looked fast. And a highschooler with a Camero wasn't a bad thing to have. We have a ton of great car patterns in the Pattern Library: https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/category/19-transportation/

I made it! 1000 Subscribers! Thanks, everybody for your help. I was so close and you guys helped me push over the edge. YouTube is reviewing my channel now for the partner program. Well, not much. But $10-15/month doesn't hurt. But in order for me to get partnered in the program, I needed 1000 subscribers and 4000hrs of view time. I don't do a ton with the channel, but I do post every once in a while. My K40 video got really popular and that's what pushed my channel to getting close to the requirements. I split that video off onto a new channel called Laser Pop if that's something you're interested in. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt-bWfn-g1ELeE-7aJcsDFA/

Hi All. I could use your help. I have a small YouTube channel I post to every once in a great while. Currently, I'm 40 subscribers short of being monetized. I don't have many videos, but I have a few on there that are helpful and get a lot of views. It would be nice if Google would share some of that revenue with me. Can you do me a favor and subscribe to my channel? It would help me out a lot. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBqzwrwpsWdz2EBteazx84w/

Coffee House is a place for off topic conversations, but the same forum rules still apply (those are found here). Even though it's off topic, politics and religion are not allowed. A conversation may feel lighthearted to the original poster, but these subjects will spin wildly out of control. Most of us identify with with a certain belief system that is core to our identity. When we attack or poke fun at one of those belief systems, it's easy to take it as a personal attack. So that is why we have that long-standing rule. I want to focus on what brings us together, not what tears us apart. I have several posts within this thread that clarifies a lot of stuff, so that might be helpful for new folks. I hope that helps.
-
Hi all. Just a reminder political discussions are not allowed on SSV. Please read the first post of this thread as it spells it out pretty clearly. We try hard to keep things on topic and free of political and religious discussions. However, SSV is a big place and I'm not able to read everything. So if you see something that needs attention, please report it so I or Clayton can review it. It's a much better solution than getting worked up, or rage quitting SSV. Thanks All!

Is it summer yet? I can't tell because of the weather. But that doesn't stop me form firing up the grill! This month's challenge is about BBQ season! Post your projects that are related to outdoor cooking and dining! Signs, cutting boards, condiment holders, napkin rings, paper towel holders, grill scrapers, drink holders, or whatever! And while you're at it, tell us some of your favorite things to cook outdoors? Better yet, have a recipe to share? I wanna see them! Lets turn this into an epic BBQ thread. Pass the sauce!
