  1. I do something similar. I'll sometimes put the hole in the middle of the line and taper it off both ways. Great tip and illustration.
  2. Hi Jim. Welcome to the Village. We're glad you found us. So many talented and friendly people here. I think you'll have a great time here. Plus there's enough patterns to keep you busy for quite some time! Anyway, welcome aboard. Jump in and have some fun!
  3. Hi Bob. Welcome to the Village. I love buying lottery tickets too, but hate checking to see if I'm a winner. Its much more fun to imagine spending that money than being brought back to the harsh reality that I'm $2 poorer. But if I do win, I'll certainly get a lot of shop time! Anyway, welcome aboard. Jump in and have some fun!
  4. I really like that. That turned out beautiful. You did an amazing job on it. Nicely done!
  5. Wow! You are really getting good at those! That turned out awesome! Is it for a client, or just for your amusement? Great job!
  6. That's really cool. Got a bit of air time too! That's awesome. Looks like the recipient was thrilled too. Nicely done!
  7. Boy, that turned out great! I like the applique version. You know what would look cool is if you painted it black and drybrushed white on top. Don't know if you ever drybrushed or not, but I find it does really well on dark motifs such as this. Nicely done!
  8. Ha! That's great! You did a great job on it. I think she'll be thrilled. Love the colored background too. Very Shrek-ish.
  9. That turned out really cool. You did a great job on it. A little small to ride, though. Who is it for?
  10. If you're looking for scroll saw magazines, there's really only 2. Scroll Saw Woodoworking & Crafts and Creative Woodworking & Crafts. I prefer SSW&C. I like their projects and layout of their magazine better, but they only have 4 issues a year. CCW&C has 8 issues a year. They also have great projects. As far as woodworking magazines (furniture, etc), I subscribe to Wood Magazine. I like their layout and the projects are accessible. But there are so many good ones out there, I'd just go to a newsstand and pick out a few and see which ones you like best. Popular Woodworking is a good one. Fine woodworking is great, but waaaaaaay beyond my skill.
  11. Great idea! Many of those planks are pretty wide, too. They usually have a composite core, but I don't think it would make much of a difference. In fact, I wonder if you can dye the composite core with some black stain. It should wipe right off the face of the hardwood surface without discoloring it. Might be a good way to hide the core.
  12. I'm guessing there is a slight bur on the blade clamping screw. This will make it so the end of the screw doesn't make full contact with the blade. This is fairly common and as a result of the manufacturing process. If this is the problem, its an easy fix. Unscrew the blade holding screw and take a look. This has to be absolutely flat. You can take a file or fine sandpaper and file off the bur and give it another try. I don't know much about the 21 inch. I know they haven't had a real good reputation in the past. I have a craftsman 16 inch and love it. But its a bit different design than they have today.
  13. Ouch! That doesn't sound like much fun at all. I'm glad you're healed back up. The windmill turned out really cool. For some reason, I was thinking it would be one of those squat kind of windmills, kinda like the ones they have in Holland. I also like the sunflower type of propellers. Nicely done!

  16. I love seeing old motorcycles and classic cars. The ones we have are amazing. I know whenever we get some, they're really popular. I really like wildlife. Especially North American wildlife. It would be fun to expand our intarsia section, too.
  17. Hi Shane. Welcome back to the hobby! Hopefully you'll be able to find a few patterns to keep yourself busy. We have plenty to choose from. We'd love to see what you're working on. 18. I really like that one. Very old school style. Reminds me of something you'd see in colonial times. Very cool project. I bet it was fun to build too. Nicely done!
