  1. This is still a work in progress. Things will be back to normal in the next couple weeks while I adjusts the looks, features and workflows. I see you already go the albums working. This is going to be SO much nicer than the old gallery. I can tell already.
  2. I've never used it, but a lot of folks find it useful. You may have to tweak the pattern a bit to make it fit your style. I also think its pretty dependent on the quality of photo. If you want to learn pattern making, check out the classes in the Village University forum. The classes are free an so is the software.
  3. I fixed the strike through for ya.
  4. The new User Gallery and Pattern Library is now open. Naturally, there's nothing in it right now. I'll be moving files over from the old gallery in the weeks to come. But feel free to create your own album and upload some finished projects. Here's a quick rundown on how to use the Gallery. Click "Upload" button (upper right corner) Two options: Create a new album to hold pictures of your finished projects. Click "Select Catagory" to upload patterns to the Pattern Library. [*]Click "Choose Files..." to select your files you want to upload. Then they'll begin uploading. You'll see the status and thumbnails of the pictures you're uploading. When you're done uploading, click "Review & Publish" button on the bottom right. [*]Fill in your details (title, tags, description, etc.). In the "Copyright" section, type in the pattern designer. [*]Click "Finish & Publish" Be sure to comment and rate other people's files. It adds a lot to the whole experience. The Old Gallery will be still available so folks have access to the whole pattern library, as well user galleries.
  5. The move to the new software has been made, there is no reason to reply to this topic anymore. So I'll be locking it. Enjoy the new site!
  6. Howdy all. Well, this is the new forum. It'll take a bit of getting used to, but I'm already liking it much more than the previous system. Whenever you move data from one piece of software to another, there are chances of the data moves over strangely. I'm still fixing settings, preferences, options, permissions, etc. in the background to overcome these hurdles. Things may change overt the next few days. If you see something strange, doesn't act right, doesn't look right, or an obvious bug, please let me know here and I'll look into it. If you can't do something you previously could, also let me know. Thanks for helping me squash a few bugs. :-) I'll post a few solutions to the common problems below: I can't login. If you're account didn't have at least 1 post in the forums before we made the move, your account was deleted. You can read the announcement here: http://www.scrollsaw...nt-get-deleted/ You can re-register for a free account to access all of what SSV has to offer. [*]Post attachments and pictures aren't showing. I think there's a bug when converting the old post attachments. If it is one of your posts, you can simply edit the post and immediately save it. The pictures will show up. Myself and the moderation team will do this where we can. [*]Links are broken Links that link to other forum posts are probably broken since we have a new URL structure. If it's your post, you can edit it and fix the link. If it's not your post, just post a reply saying the link is broken and hopefully someone (a moderator or myself) will fix the links. [*]Links to the old gallery are broken If you want to connect to the old gallery, look in the url where it says: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/index.php?cat=10117 and add the word "old" before the word "gallery" in your URL (no spaces). So it should look like: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/oldgallery/index.php?cat=10117 If you come across a broken link in someone's signature, just modify your URL like I mention above and you should be able to get there.
  7. Thanks. Shoutbox isn't the chatroom. I haven't installed that yet. I have to go through the settings now and get things dialed in. The new gallery isn't working yet. I'm hoping to get that ready by the end of the night.

  13. I love the colored backer. I'm assuming it's scrap book paper? Nicely done.

    Sorry All

I know how life gets in the way, sometimes. We'll be here when you find a few moments.
  15. Tomorrow's the big day! I'll be rolling up my sleeves and moving SSV over to a different software platform. At some point, probably after midnight tonight, I'm going to lock down SSV. The forums and gallery won't be accessible. I have a lot of files to transfer/backup and I want it done by the time I wake up in the AM. Then, first thing in the morning, I'm going to start the installation process and port over the forum info. I'm guessing SSV will be closed most of Saturday while we make the move. Keep an eye on our Facebook page at <!-- m -->http://www.facebook.com/scrollsawvillage<!-- m --> for updates on my progress. Hopefully, by tomorrow night, we'll have the forum and gallery in place and we can start using SSV again. Anyway, that's the plan!
  16. I usually taper the holes so it resembles a tear drop. One side of the blade will have a slight bur, which you can use as a rasp to taper the hole so it's not so obvious as a drill point. I often put my pilot hole in the middle of the line, and taper it out both directions. If the design has a lot of veining, I'll use a bigger blade to create a larger kerf so that the veining stands out. A bigger blade will help hide the pilot holes, especially if you do the tapering I mentioned above. Another option is to put a pilot hole at the beginning and the end of the veining cut. This is a more stylistic choice that creates a nice effect. Kind of a serif on a font letter.
  17. I usually cut a slit in a business card and slide it around the blade, then tape it to the saw. This is usually enough support for me. If I really need solid zero-clearance, I'll drill a hole in a large 1/4" plywood board (12" square or so) and thread my blade trough it the hole. Then tape the board to my saw with double stick tape. That also gives a bit of support. I usually add packing tape to the surface so my workpiece slides easier, though.

  19. Hiya Fez! Good to see you again! It's been awhile. There was a post in that thread yesterday that I removed. They thought the contest was for the software move we were doing on Saturday. I removed it so folks aren't mislead into thinking there is a giveaway. Be sure to check back again soon and check out our new website. It should be pretty cool. We'd love to see what you've been working on.
