    I usually make a copy of my pattern and apply it directly to the wood with repositionable spray adhesive. (spray the pattern - let it tack up - and apply ). If left on too long - just use mineral spirits to loosen.

    I am a sitter- I have my DeWalt attached to an old desk I got from work. It is bolted down and I have a small block from a 4x4 post that elevates the back end to tilt it towards me. I have an old office chair with wheels, Jewelers visor/with reading glasses ( To see my work close-up). I also have a "Deadman Pedal" to free my hands, Plenty of light above. The desk drawers holds all my patterns that I have collected, tools, sand paper, cleaner, etc... The keyboard slide table holds Measuring tools, pre-made angles for bevel cutting, and small needle nose pliers and such. The table top holds all my pre-cut portrait blanks, glues, blades, small drill for holes I missed at the drill press. chargers, And Most Important- MY RADIO FOR MUSIC!

    I have a sheet of 1/8' lexan covering my whole table with a small square cut out in the middle, (to insert a zero tolerance 1/8' pc. of plywood). I cut several pieces of this ply from scrap and pre-drilled them with a "nick" on one side to represent the bottom (To Me). With the lexan I can use car wax and polish it to help the wood "Glide" to make maneuvering the wood like an air hockey table.

    Like most people, I love working with wood, I used to do a lot of interior woodwork as a part time income and a friend of mind wanted a valance over his sink. Well I go over to my brothers house and ask him if he ha a template for a design That I could route into the wood. Ha came up with a leaf design and told me to scroll it! I looked at him like "What Foreign language are you speaking" So, I watched him put this beautiful design in the valance. (Customer Loved It). Fast Forward-- My Brother died a couple of years after. Fast Forward Again- Two years later my Sister-in-law Called me over to help her move some furniture and when I was finished, She took me to the garage and asked me if I would like to have his scrollsaw and everything that went with it. (She had a dream from my brother). We both started tearing up and i took it home set it up, NEVER USED ONE BEFORE- And my first project (just from watching him) was one of Charles Dearnings Portraits. Fell in Love with it and the rest is history

    I also take an emery board and lightly tighten the holder and scuff it that way.

    I designed this for myself and have it hanging in on of our rooms. Hving trouble with seeing colors, my wife told me what to paint....lol
