  16. Jim another wood that come to mind is bubinga. it is from africa rdedish brown and has dark streaks in it.
  17. It's not leopard wood, leopard wood has distictive spots in it. it does look like the wood "Santos Mahogany" that Art said, but its from south america. look at this link http://www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/ ... antos.htm,. I'll look through some of my exotics and see what I can come up with. Does it look red or more of a brown?

  19. To me it looks to grainy and dark red for alder. Is it from the U.S. or from overseas somewhere?
  20. I had a lady come to me wanting a salt and pepper bowl. She saw one on a cooking show and wants me to make her one. No big deal its a pretty simple design. but my question is what can I finish the inside with that won't affect the salt or the salt won't affect it. Could I line the inside with a thin coat of epoxy or do I just use a food safe finish?
  21. I'm not sure Jim, but here is a website that has lots of wood species with pictures and descriptions. It may be of some help. http://www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/ ... s/#letterA
