  13. Hello Jules, welcome to the Village, it's great to have you as a member. I think you made the right decision on not buying either of these saws, you cannot get replacement parts for both of them. You will find a good buy on a descent saw, just bide your time and keep an eye out for a deal. And just like you did this time, check in with us and we will let you know what we think of the saw. And sometimes you might even find someone on here, posting about a saw that they know of for sale. Something will eventually show up, you'll just have to be a bit more patient. Len
  14. Brad, I just finished reading what you last posted, nobody would ever think you were just looking for attention or pity. We all appreciate knowing how each other is doing, and if someone is in a pinch we do what we can to help the member out. For you to come on here to let us know of your issues and to ask for prayers, is something that we or at least I am glad to know and do for you. I only wish there was more I could do then pray for you, hopefully, the prayers we all will sending your way will be all that's needed. There's strength in numbers, and there's a fair number of us that will be praying for you both. Be well, and may God bless. Len
  15. Brad, I'm sorry to be reading about, how sick and under the weather you and now your bride is. It's tough enough when one person in the household is down, but when both are under the weather it's just to much. I'm happy that you have some assistance come in to help out, that has to help with worrying about each other. With the help you guys are getting, your medical issues will be well taken care of. Prayers will be sent your way, for both of you. And hang out here all you want, it's nice having you around and commenting on people's work. Just because you can't use your saw right now, doesn't mean you have to stop commenting. I value your opinion, and I appreciate you posting what you think. So please take care of yourself, but please post when you can also, it lets us know that you're still kicking. All my best to you and your wife, I hope you both start to fell better right away. Take the time to heal properly, don't rush things and do as the doc says. Take care!! Len
  16. I wonder, would a hacksaw blade be any good to use as a cutter? Would one be longer then the shelf liner your using, you would need to know the width of the liner? I would use one of them as a cutter, if I could get one long enough. The blades already have a hole drilled in them, that could be used to attach them to the wood frame with. A new blade would last forever, I don't think you'd ever have to change it. Len
  17. I've used the drill press and a strip of 1" sander belt, it was a great way to do it unless you needed to have small sized dowels. The issue with making small dowels this way, is that there's no way to stop the bottom from bending away from you as you try to sand it. Len
  18. Ray, are you sure you are doing inlay work, I've always used thicker wood then 1/16" for any inlay work I've ever done. On any inlay work I've ever done, the inlaid wood is about the same thickness as the wood your doing the inlay into. On any inlaid work of mine, you could see the inlaid image clearly from both sides. I don't know how you could do that, with something 1/16" thick? If you are doing Marquetry work, I can understand wanting 1/16" veneer stock. Maybe the way I do my inlay work is different then others, I'll wait to see how others reply to my reply to your question. Len
  19. I prefer to sit because of a bad back, I only stand at the saw if I really have to. I've tried standing while cutting when I first got my saw, but I could only saw for short periods of time. So I tried sitting while using the saw, and I could continue cutting for hours non-stop. Now I have a very comfortable old office chair that I use, it's on wheels and it swivels. When I first started using it, it bothered my legs a lot. So I tried using it with the back of the chair facing the saw, this made the front of the chair lower then the back. Doing this made all of the difference in me being comfortable, the lower front didn't bother my legs any longer. y EX bought me a beautiful looking chair at Costco, it looked a lot like an Indian motorcycle seat. I gave it a good try, but it just wasn't comfortable to use at the saw. What I had for a problem with it, was with the way it was shaped. With the shape of it, you had a leg on each side of the chair part. But sitting that way, caused my legs to go to sleep. I just about broke my neck one night because of that seat, I didn't realize my leg was asleep. And I tried to step off the thing, causing me to fall onto the concrete basement floor. That was the last time I sat on that seat, I was not willing to risk getting injured from sitting on iy. Len
