  1. Nicely done Jerry, how are you going to finish it? Len
  2. Cute. Len
  3. Target practice anyone?? Len
  4. Nice pattern Dave, even a nicer cutting. Len
  5. Nicely done Dan, I'd like to see it next to a coin so that I could tell what size it is. What size is it now, and what size was it in the original patterns? Len
  6. Nicely done DW, it's super cute. Len
  7. Prayers going out to you Edward, hopefully it'll be a quick recovery. Len
  8. I like the simplicity of the direct drive machines, plus there's no chance of pinching your fingers like there is with belt drive. Len
  9. Good for you Dick, you'll have to cut something special for him. Len
  10. Paul, people are generally talking about greasing the pivot points and bearings on their machines. And if there are any bushings, they grease them also. I don't know what type of grease others use, but, on an older Delta scroll saw I used to use a sticky grease that was red in color. I don't grease sealed bearings, I don't know of any reason why a person would want to, they're sealed. If a sealed bearing needs grease, the bearing is worn out and should be changed out instead of greasing it. Len
  11. Frank, thanks for this, it definitely was a learning experience to follow along as you progressed. The two projects look fantastic, and your a lot braver than me. I just am not brave enough to practice on a piece such as this, there is just to much work involved in cutting it out. Len
  12. Larry, doesn't doing this cause the sawdust and wood chips to build up on the parts you greased? I can see using a dry lubricant, they don't attract the dust and dirt. Len
  13. I used to use the key-hole cutter, but the sawtooth hangers are what I use now. The problem with the key-hole router system, is that you need wood thicker than 1/2". Len
  14. I never had this problem, my drill press chuck will hold the small bits. I think that it would be easier to change just the chuck, rather than changing the chuck and spindle. I know how to change the chuck on the dp, but, how do you go about changing the spindle on the dp? Len
  15. Way to go Todd, they should be good sellers. I would like to see a pictures of the ends, I'm curious to see the cutting pattern. Len
  16. Nicely done Helmut, is this one of your designs? I find it very hard to price an outfit such as this, I know there's lots of work involved in making the set, but, there's not usually a lot of money in selling it. These type of cuts are something I would make for a daughter or special niece, I would never make a set like this hoping to make money off of it. People just don't want to pay what it's worth, they will go and buy something plastic instead. If I made this to sell, I'd expect to get around $70.00-$80.00 there's a lot of fretwork in it. Plus, there's a lot of BB plywood used in making the set, and it is not cheap! Len

    Lamb

Terry, that's a good looking lamb, but, I think it would look better if the legs and face weren't so glossy. It's great to have you back, and I offer my condolences on the loss of your SIL. Hopefully, your brother will soon start feeling better, I will keep him in my prayers. Len
  18. I disagree with buying a cheap saw. My first saw was a cheap saw, and it was so miserable to use that I almost gave up on scrolling. The saw was a gift, and I only kept it for two weeks. The only reason I stuck with it, is that I traded that first saw in for a Delta scroll saw. The little 16" Delta saw was a variable speed saw, with quick release levers for the blade changes. I excelled at cutting once I got the Delta, it was a nice little saw that did a lot of work. I still own it, it is my back-up saw. So, if I had stayed with the cheap after market saw, I have no doubt that I wouldn't be scrolling nowadays. The only thing that kept me scrolling, was a saw upgrade. Len
  19. Brian, with the text part of the magazine being in German, do you see any issues with assembly or understanding what is meant? I take it that all of the measurements are metric, rather than inches? Len
  20. Yes there is Brian, but, do you really think that this is a big enough issue to go that far? Len
  21. Great video Randy, Alex is quite the accomplished woodworker. Both you and him should be proud of his successes, he'a quite the kid. Len
  22. Nicely done Paul, I really like the live edge. Len
  23. Kyle, I agree with Clayton, I would price it at $35.00 also. Len
