  1. I like to listen to the noise or tune of the saw, I was taught to always listen to the piece of machinery your using. By doing this you always know if there is something happening to the saw or if it's working properly. And as far as I'm concerned, it's just another distraction that's not needed around running machinery. But this only my personel opinion, and I think that whatever makes a person more comfortable around the shop, is what they should do in the long run. Because afterall it should be as enjoyable and stress releving as possible, and I do like to listen to the machinery operate, really. Weird huh? Len
  2. I have a small AC in the window, but only use it when I'm going to be in the shop for awhile. I don't see any reason to keep the shop cool if nobodies using it. Len
  3. Trev, I hope it works great for you, and that you get lots of planing done with it. Len
  4. David, that looks great, I like the look of it painted better than not painted. Even though I hate to paint wood and lose the look of the grain. This just goes to prove that sometimes paint is better. Thanks for sharing it with us all. Len
  5. That's a neat bit of cutting there Kevin, it all looks great. And I'm sorry to hear of your dilemma. Len
  6. John, I don't know what it is about that house clean sign, but as soon as I had the one I made finished my wife layed claim to it also. And according to my wife there isn't going to ever be a next husband, she thinks that men have it to easy, and she isn't going to make any more mens lives easier. The lucky sap.lol Len
  7. DW, first let me say that you do very nice work, this bowl is exceptional. I would like to know if they are washable, what I mean is can they sit in a water and soap solution or a dishwasher and not separate the layers? And is this bowl with the bottom glued in place only an inch deep? This is very interesting, thanks for sharing it with us all. Len
  8. Jim, you sure have been busy, is the writing on the oven pulls burnt on or is it marker? Len
  9. Nice work. Len
  10. Good job Steve. Len
  11. Michael, welcome to the village, and thank you for sharing this beauty with us. From the look of the cutting, one would never guess that you've only been cutting for such a short time. Great work keep it up. Len
  12. Very nice Clayton, you did an extremely good job on this one, thanks for sharing. Len
  13. Very nice, thanks for sharing. Len
  14. DW, that is a very nice looking bowl, and the vase is really something else. Thanks for sharing them with us all. But I do wish you guys would stop putting up these big beautiful Albums or Galleries, I have such a short attention span that when I start looking at them I forget to come back to the Village.lol Len
  15. I have A/C in both shops, just got a unit given to me for the workshop that is separate from the house. It should be nice to have in the heat of the summer, seeing as how I'm not a heat person. Len
  16. I use two different saws which are identical, so it depends where I am at the time I want to saw. I have one in my woodworking shop which is used mostly in the warmer seasons. And the other one is in the workshop area of our basement, both the workshop and the house are air conditioned, so no matter where I want to cut I can be comfortable. But I will say this most of my scrollsaw work is done in the basement, just because, for me that's where I first started scrolling and it just seems to be to much bother to move everything. And congrats on the A/C. With the temps we get nowadays everybody needs them to survive. Len
  17. Kevin, the Easter Cross looks very nice, you did a very good job of cutting it out. As for the raising the back of your saw table, I think that it wouldn't give you any trouble. But to leave it unattached or unstrapped or whatever I think that you are just looking for trouble, or an accident to happen. They are bolted down for a reason and I feel that they should remain bolted down even if it is in a different position. Len
  18. Mike it is easy to see and understand why they asked you to display your work. It is all beautiful and so well made that they all look like they should be on display in an art gallery they are that good. Man just to have that many on hand for the display is something else. You should feel very honored and proud at the same time, honored that they asked, and also proud that they asked. Your work is beyond reproach, thanks for sharing it with us all. Len
  19. The cuttings all look great, but it is beyond the life of me how anybody could see through those glasses ctheir scratched up so badly.lol Len
  20. And it sure shows that you are Jim from the quality of the work, it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us all. Len
