You might want to try making a glued up panel rather than a single piece.

A few weeks ago @Travis added a project workshop feature to the site that has directions to go along with a project. I liked his love sign and shared it with my high school kids. Three of the kids decided to make a version, of course being kids only one used the word love. Another student was playing around and made a compound cut puzzle. I had never shown him any compound cutting, he just was experimenting. I am excited to see what else these kids make.

At one of my schools I had a few 10 inch band saws (deltas) One time I tried resawing a 2x4, the 3.5" height was near the capacity of the saw. With a new blade it was a slow cut and required a lot of clean-up afterward, but did technically work. If you have wider boards that you hope to resaw, you will not be happy with a 10". If you have a planer to do the clean up, and only need 3" wide pieces the 10" saw might work (but buy lots of good blades)

@Angelo I have tips on breaking bandsaw blades! First is pay attention to the width of the blade and the tightness of the curves you are trying to cut. This shows a guide for how tight your curves can be. Pinching the blade in a tight curve creates a lot of heat build-up in the blade which makes it weak and more likely to break. The second tip that I give my students is to let the blade do the cutting, don't force feed wood into the machine.

In my school shop I have a 12" Dewalt. Come to think of it I have had the same one in all of my school shops. 1 had a stand, 2 had shop built tables, and the current one sits where ever I clamp it. I am planning on getting rid of an old radial arm saw and building a miter saw table in the spot. The saws have all preformed really well. At home I have a cheap 10" (tool shop, I think) It has noticeably less power, I compensate by keeping really sharp/new blades in it. If I combine the price of the saw and all of the blades I probably could have gotten a better one.

with out seeing the project, I would most likely add a backer. Words often get lost without one.

I had to tighten the motor on the delta that I have at school. I don't remember exactly what the symptom was that I was fixing but it helped tremendously. Before I tightened it I could grab the motor and wiggle it back and forth so it was really loose.

I have never used the gorilla glue sticks, but I do use regular Elmer's glue sticks to stick my patterns down. I gave up on spray glue many years ago, Minnesota winters plus needing to go outside to glue equals no fun!

Blade storage systems / racks what are you using?

When I started and had a great variety of blades I made tubes of PVC pipe with caps on the ends and made a round carousel to hold the tubes.tube. Once I developed a favorite the holder got put on a shelf to collect dust, then one day got knocked over and all the blades spilled out. After a few cuss words I picked up the blades and brought the mess with me to my school shop to let the kids use. Now I keep my blades in a pencil drawer in the little bag they came in. I take a dozen out of the wire and they sit on a butter dish that I glued magnets to. The dish is in easy reach when I need a new blade. -
I currently have a brother laser, without scanner. I love it, but do miss the scanner from time to time. If I needed one today I would buy this one, a laser all-in-one. I like the laser printers because the toner doesn't dry out between uses like inkjets often do, and the toner seems to last forever. I think I have bought tonner cartridge 2 times in 5 years.

If you are even thinking about it, get the pegas. I consider the Delta an entry level saw. Although the Hegners were built to last, is there a reason to upgrade? I have a delta in my school shop. Prior to having the delta we had a terrible cheap saw. I wanted something useable for the kids but needed the price to be low enough to get by the administration. The delta is similar to the dewalt, but not quite as nice.

I like this. I also like the trick of using a biscuit jointer to make the slot for the flame, very clever (and safer than some other ways to get the slot cut)

you did a great job! The backer really makes the scrolled pieces pop.

When my students are using small hinges I have them hot glue them in place to mark where the pilot holes will go. We also sometimes use it to hole the hinge in place while putting in the little screws, one less thing to try and hold/line-up.
