  3. I was playing my phone and looking through the apps and found an app called " time clock punch it" and thought that might be handy. I use Electronic. Timer that you can buy for cooking purposes. I never gave it a thought about an app. From what it says you can calculate other stuff to like your rate an hour. Has any one used such an app? Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

  5. Hello I have used Birch plywood from lowes a couple of times and really got frustrated with chip out and then I heard to use high quality wood so I am going try it again so my question to you Pros should I use Ultra Reverse FD blades? I will be using 1/8 " wood thanks
  6. Thanks Ervin yeah it is for a child
  7. Yeah Kevin I think your right. I used a bigger blade and it worked right. I thought it would work with a thin blade. I thought that I would only have to worry about the blade breaking.
  8. no I am using a number 01 FD blade
  9. Hello all, So I been having a problem with the wood puzzles. So you know I have a Excalibur 21 which is a about one year old. I am cutting wood puzzles out of 1" walnut I have checked my blade to make sure it is strait by cutting a on a scrap piece of wood the piece comes out smooth from top and bottom, but when I cut the puzzle out pieces won't slide out on on side which requires sanding. I get the piece to were it tight then I hold it up to the light to see where it is binding up then I sand those areas. So why would this be doing that? thanks Karl
  10. thanks for the tip Travis
  11. hello all, I have a safety tip for some of you. if you already have a disc sander you most likely found out the hard way like I did. I bought a 10" bench top disc sander and I have used it a few time. Well I had a 1/4 piece of wood 4 "x 4" that I was sanding and so there was not a lot of stock to hold on to so was putting pressure on it and the next thing I knew is the wood was flying through the air and my finger tip were being sanded. Man you talk about painful the moral of this is use your palm sander for thin wood and lay it flat on the bench.
  12. Hi all , I read on the forums not to buy B/B from the big box stores so I went to a wood store and they said that they have triple "B" rated plywood and so my question is.. As a scroller what rating should I be looking for? Thanks
  13. The resin I bought at Lowes its called "clear coat" I have never used resin so I don't know if one brand is better than another. I was looking in my cherrytree toy mag and they have a resin that is only one part resin, I bought the two part resin. in the cherry tree mag they sell with the resin a bottle of "eat a bubble" so I am not sure if that has any thing with the one part resin or not so make sure you ask questions. The resin in cherrytree mag is half the price but with the 2 part resin might give you more cause of the two part system. any ways I hope this is helps. As for the wood I wanted to use the cheap pine cause I had no plans to go by so I just had to wing it. the next one will be made out of red oak.
  14. Hi I was talking to a guy at work and he was telling me his uncle is a wood carver and told me about Myrtle wood so I came home and looked at all my web sites that have the characteristic of wood and I could not find any so I had to google it and this is what I came up with. Sure is pretty I live in nothern CA. about 3 hours south of the OR border I think I will have to keep an eye out for this. http://www.myrtlewoodgallery.com/classi ... lewood.htm
  15. Hi Travis, Was told about this wood called Myrtle wood and and looking up the characteristic of it and just so happen to run across this : http://www.woodbin.com/ref/etc/wood_toxicity_table.htm I dont know it has wood that could be added to your chart or not
  16. Hello all, Well I have almost finished my tv tray so this is what I came up with. I used 3/8 pine and glued them up and used 3/8 pine for a backer The legs is made out of 3/4 x 3/4 poplar with a 1/4 dowel going in the support. I cut the leg up a the top at a 45 degree angle. the longer legs is 27 1/2 in long and the short legs are 26 in long. I will make them longer on my next one I think I will add a inch. I think it sits just a little low for my liking. I made my own washer/spacers out od wood to put between the legs I have to wait till we get a steady 70 degree weather so I can put on the epoxy resin the mfg said it needs to be at least 70 degrees for 72 hours. So I will wait till nicer weather and it will give me time to make another one and coat them at the same time.
  17. OK I am going to work on it, As far as the thickness I was going to use 1/4 in at first then a 1/2 in backer but then I was thinking what would I have that would weigh so much that it would call for that thickness of wood. and I thought the resin would even make it stronger. and the tv trays you buy are paper thin. I think will try 2- 1/4 on one and see how it turns out then make my adjustment from what I learn this weekend I will start on it .
  18. I have an Idea and thought to ask some of you that might have tried it, so here it is: I was thinking of taking a 1/4" board and scrolling a wildlife scene and putting a 1/4" backing on it then using that self leveling epoxy to make it a flat surface I then have to find some plans for the legs and hardware. So Your 2 cents please. And Thank you for your wisdom.
  19. thanks every one
  20. hello all, I have a pattern that says bore a hole 2-3/8 for clock insert so what is the rule of thumb when it comes to buying a clock for it ? do you go a 1/4 smaller for the clock size or what? Some patterns tell what size of clock to buy. thanks And have a Merry Christmas
  21. Go to the MFG website they might have some tip video you can watch. I have a Kodak 5MP which is very user friendly. and get a beginners book and learn about the basics . The one bad thing about the manuals the camera comes with is that the language is all technical and they don't think about the user being a beginner.
