  1. Too many high school trade type classes not being taught is a shame.......they are great to teach the basics and it may inspire a student to pursue a career ........I took a wood class & and a electricity class while is HS.
  2. I am currently working on this little table, I made a very similar one back in HS 36yrs ago, I had a request if i could make a small table to display a flag in a case and a shelf underneath to display a 8x10 picture......the original one had a angled book shelf......I am not a furniture maker by any means, that's outside my comfort zone some and I originally told them no.......but Sunday morning I was drinking coffee watching tv and I looked at the table I had made 36yrs ago and thought that would work......so I showed them it and they loved it......so off to the computer to design a template for the sides which I cut yesterday.......went to HD today and purchased a 1x12 & a 1x10 pine boards, also some stain & polyurethane/brushes.......came home and started cutting......and 1.5hrs later I had a table!! Very very simple.....I used my scroll saw to cut the sides, the rest was other saws/router table.......I used my Kreg jig for the joinery......will stain a red mahogany tomorrow........pretty pleased so far........the original one is the 2nd pic......
  3. Looks great to me.....
  4. Looks great to me.....

  6. I can see the first half of your comment happening, but the 2nd half there's not a chance........lol
  7. You will have to talk to the BOSS.....that is her job not mine......lol
  8. 2 projects to check off my spring tp-do list. Not much scroll sawing on this but I thought I would share it to hope inspire anyone else. I made the swing part a couple weeks ago, then spent this past weekend building the pergola for the swing to hang from. We sat 3 people on it(600lbs) and it didn't budge so I hope it will last a very long time. I will stain it in a year the cedar color to match my deck. All is made from pressure treated lumber. I drew up some of my own plans and took 1 step at a time. I am very pleased the way it turned out. I also added a new fire pit. All comments good or bad are welcome. Thank You Now it's time to get back to my scroll sawing..........
  9. I had a request to make a sign for a friend of theirs who has kept the family farm and not to sell it. My client gave me the idea with the Illinois shape and to run with it, this is what I came up with. The hardest part of this was cutting it because of it's large size of 20"T x 14"W.......I edge laminated 2 boards together to get the width I needed.....1st time for me doing this.....wood was white oak w/black painted luan backer screwed to back.....comments always welcomed.......Thank You
  10. Beautiful!
  11. Real real nice there Kevin!!
  12. I built the 1st one from scratch with no pattern.......the size depends on the cooler you will use, each cooler is different, also the cooler must have a drain to run plumbing.........I use a Coleman 48qt cooler........youtube has some videos on how to build a "cooler box"......I watched plenty, then attempted to build mine......had some struggles at 1st, how much material to buy, what actual plumbing fittings I needed ect. for the drain, , but I've made 25 of them now and I can make one in 3hrs give or take.
  13. Awesome work......I'm too intimidated to try this......
  14. I was asked if I could make one of my cooler boxes for an up-coming fundraiser for the HS baseball team......here it is.....has a 48qt cooler inside, has a spicket on side for drainage....logo is the Fulton Steamer logo.......comments welcome as always and Thank You in advance.

  24. I made this sign this past week, took standard 1x6's and turned them into aged "rough sawn" boards, no need to break your back tearing apart pallets, used sawz all with wood blade, I secured board with screws on each side do the board didn't take off on me, ran sawz all at a steep angle lightly randomly over board to give it the "planer marks" look.......then took boards to table saw...adjusted fence the thickness of board or a hair wider.......put the board on edge and slid board through tipping board slightly into blade randomly for the blade marks on board......you will have to flip board and run through again because saw blade doesn't go high enough........the Hawkeye sign is the result(3ft x 2ft).......spray painted black 1st 1 coat only......once dry (30 min) sand as desired to expose raw board.......then I made a stencil out of 1/4" underlayment to spray paint the hawk........I was so very pleased with the finished product that I should share it. I want to try tough oil with this look also.....Very Very Simple!!
