  4. Hi Beeber, I would not use a spiral blade. Even a # 2/0 leaves a wide kerf. Besides you get nothing but round corners. Use a regular flat blade. The number depends on the thickness of the wood. FD Mike
  5. Jerry, please email me. I have what you are looking for. FD Mike

  9. Tere is no foot feed on a scroll scroll saw. There is no switch to regulate the speed while sawing. This would be very un-handy while sawing. Most have a foot switch what just turnes it on and off. FD Mike
  10. Here is a tutorial from Carter. He is the master puzzle cutter. http://www.mikesworkshop.com/Carter%20J ... torial.htm He also has a video: FD Mike
  11. I believe this company bought them out; Creative Woodcraft Plans, Ltd. They sell the patterns under Berry Basket. FD Mike.
  12. I like to use high speed most of the time, it gives a nice smooth cut. If not enough spedd you might push too hard into the blade and the blade will start cutting with a bevel. Let the blade do the cutting they say. Go to my web site and click on Selecting a blade and Q & A many good tips. FD Mike
  13. I just made a deal with a flower shop. They will set up a small tree and I will provide all the ornements. They are going to raffle it off and proceeds go the the local food pantry. Hope it works out FD Mike
  14. Carter Johnson has a tutorial about jigsaw puzzles on my web site and there are also 2 video's. FD Mike
  15. How come that you get blades with oil. Do you read all the replies? None has problems with oil. Some one or you must have dropped them in oil. I don't like what you are saying about oil. My blades are clean, like the Olson blades. Did you read who makes the Olson blades? Scroller is a dealer of mine. Wolfmoon, it is time to start a new post, showing some pictures or telling what you are making. FD Mike
  16. I don't understand about the oil on the FD b lades. I have been in both facgtories, one made the Olson blade (Haunstetter) and the factory I get my blades. Both use the same method. The blades are cut, heated and than cooled in oil to get the right hardness. There should be no reason, that one has more oil as the other. Go to my website and ckick on How Blads are Made. FD Mike
  17. I have been cutting with the FD blades for over 10 years and never had to clean the clamps because of oil. Most people like to use a spiral balde for cutting portraits. The FD-NS # 2/0 is used the most for that. Some people tried bout the SR and the UR, some have stayed with the SR however the UR is noe my biggest seller. Go to my web site for a lot of help. Like Selecting a Blade, Q & A and Tips and Tricks. Any questions, email me and I will be glad to help. FD Mike
  18. Hi Folks, Most of might have heard about it. Here is the latest. Came back from the Dr. He gave me an A+. Gave permission to drive again. Told me not to start heavy work yet but filling orders is no problem. I asked him if he made a down payment yet on a saw. I told him the cadilac of saws is the Eclipse. I figured he has the money. We became great friends, it was just such a great pleasure to have a relationship build so fast. I brought a few fret things with me to give to his wife. I sure hope I can help him when he gets a saw. FD Mike
  19. If it does only take pin blades, check this site; http://www.pozsgaidesigns.com/ He might be able to help on an other clamp. FD Mike
  20. Most have mentioned it by using tape. I don't know if more than one layer would help or not. I would rather put one layer on the front and on the back. Many are now using the blue painters tape on the wood with the pattern on top of that. Using a skip tooth over a double tooth would also help. I have a blade that has off-set teeth. That is the Polar blade. The draw back is that you might get fuzz on the bottom. Don't turn the speed down too much, you might start pushing too hard into the blade. The blade would start cutting with a bevel. Let the blade do the cutting they say. Mike
  21. This is what I have on my site: http://www.mikesworkshop.com/Tips.htm FD Mike
  22. Yes Larry. That is what the company said. FD Mike
  23. Got a reply from the company this morning. When production got started, we heated the blades on TOP end so that they got a blue colour. As this procedure took too much time, we decided to press a small kerv on the TOP end of the Ultras. The dent on the numbers 7 and 9 was first the bottom however when we quit with the blue colour we decided to to put the dent on the top of the numbers 7 and 9. I called this morning and they thought that they had told me and they apologized for not doing so. I am sure glad that vector01 brought this to my attenion. Mike
  24. Just looked through a magnifier glass and yes it looks like the two teeth are up on the # 7 with the mark on the bottom. My first phone call tomorrow will be to the companyy, also checked the # 9 and it looks the as the # 7. I will let you know what I find out tomorrow. FD Mike
  25. The numbers 1, 3, 5 the dent means the top. # 7 and 9 means the bottom. Before the company realized what was hapening, they had too many made. Not only them but also me with a lot of inventory of the numbers 7 and 9. I talked to the company and we came to the conclusion that if they would change the numbers 7 an 9 it would be more confusing for customers who first got the dent on the bottom and later on the top. So we decided to leave it and I made sure that it was all explained on the label. I had some asking why. After I explained it they all understood. FD Mike
