  2. Hi I was wondering what everyones opinions are for a low odor finish I can dip my small 1/8 inch bb plywood ornaments in I see posts for 50/50 low odor mineral spirits and mineral oil 50/50 BLO and mineral spirits. Which is going to give me less of a yellow look and not shiny Also can I just use either without having to seal them?? KInda hard in a basement to keep smelldown. thanks Bill
  3. Hi Here are some Voelker Arnold angels I cut out this past week. A set for a Christmas gift. 1/8 bb plywood and an FD puzzle blade.
  4. I don't have any polar blades, another idea?
  5. Hi I went to Menards and got a select pine board as MrsN suggested to make ribbon ornaments. Now what is everyones suggestion for the best blade to use to cut them. I bought some Olson PGT 12tpi 8 rev blades to try them. I mostly work with 1/8 in bbplywood so this will be a new experience for me. I don't like the reverse tooth blades, they tend to pull up a lot. Thanks Bill
  6. I made this last night from the CCW Christmas issue. It is one of the ribbon ornaments made from 3/4 pine. Bill
  7. I tried making one of the ribbon ornaments from the christmas creative crafts and ww magazine and they said they used 3/4 pine. I just grabbed a piece of 1/4 and it was like cutting concrete. Do I need to use clear white pine or what. They are really pretty when they are done but man that really was hard to cut when I am so used 1/8 bb plywood. Also blade suggestions for pine that thick. Thanks Bill
  8. Hi What time is the wednesday night chat start in central time?

  10. Sounds like somethin I could use here in Wisconsin for winter ice fishing on the lake!!! Cozy chair and kitchen while I wait for fish to bite
  11. HI all I got a nice 1725 rpm motor on a steel stand today cheap at an auction. I thought I could put my arbor that has a jacobs chuck on it so I could use flap sander etc. Shaft on motor appears to be about 5/8 and the arbor sleeve is like 1/2. Can I sand or file down that motor shaft as it is running to reduce the size so my arbor fits on it?. If so, what do I need to sand it with ???>? Thanks Bill
  12. Hi In referance to 2 peoples comments on the post I did about my shop remodel, what thickness osb should I use for the walls. I had that once a long time ago and it worked, I never painted it. I guess I could paint it this time to make shop brighter. I like the idea of doing that rather than sheetrock, as they said you can put a nail anywhere then. Also do I run the 4 x8 sheets up/down or sideways on the walls. I am kinda green at carpentry. But I am a great scroller!! Thanks Bill
  13. HI all Well on Sunday afternoon I started tearing up the shop. When my son was home he built 2 8 foot benches along walls which took up a lot of room and seemed to accumalate everything. I tore those out, and actually cut 2 of them down to make a smaller bench in the corner for a main bench and a small one by my 2 scroll saws for pattern paste up. I now have tools set up around the room and storage in the back part of the shop. I rewired and put plugs on the ceiling so if and when I decide to stud and insulate, all I have to do is move tools around and I will have open walls to work with. I finished up yesterday morning with wiring back up and now a little pickup and I am good to go for a while! I will consult with some friends and my son and watch for sales on studs, insulation and sheetrock at Menards. Bill in Wisconsin.
  14. I am thinking of redoing my workshop. I have it in my basement with cement block walls and it's to cold in the winter down there and it's also under 2 bedrooms and the floors are cold in there. How thick of insulation do I need, foam or bats? and how thick studs. I think I might just use chipboard for the walls, It doesn't have to be fancy, just want to make it warmer. Any ideas for me Thanks Bill
  15. Hi Wondering what time is chat or is it just open all times Thanks Bill
